Hi all,

I have just finished with my required courses to take the exam. I am planning to take it in this coming November.

I must say I got quite nervous about the SIMS portion of the exam after reading all of your posts. The bad thing is that the Becker material that I got doesn’t seem to have much coverage of the topic….

What exactly are we required to do in that part of the exam? Are we supposed to choose one answer from the drop down list similar to the ones included in the Becker review, or are we supposed to type out the answer based on our knowledge of the topic?

The Becker sims are almost just like the ones on the actually exam in terms of functionality. They are a combination of drop down menus with things such as account names, and blanks where you actually have to type the numbers in. Overall, I would say if you are comfortable with the material on the exam then the sims really don't pose much of a problem. I have already passed the three sections with the sims and I didn't do any of them while studying for the exam.

I must say due to budget constraint I did not buy the materials from Becker, but the package did come with the lecture videos, 8 books(review and final review), and the final review software. All materials are up to date.

The only place where I could see the SIM questions are in the lecture video dvds. The left part of the interface allows you to view the lecture videos, whereas the middle and right part provide you with the homework / sim problems and flash cards materials respectively.

As far as I know there are only 5 to 7 SIMS for EACH of the 10 chapter of the FAR review. I feel like I REALLY need to buy another book such as the Wiley book to supplement the Becker materials.
