Recruiter Ignoring Me or Coincidence?

    Hello everyone!

So I attempted to a “cold call” to a public accounting firm to see if I can get a job for the tax season. No answer so I decided to leave a message indicating that I am e-mailing my resume and I will contact back in a week. One week has past (plus few days because of holidays), and I call the recruiter and all I get is their voicemail. I attempted to call three different days at three different times. Funny thing, phone doesn’t even ring-straight to voicemail! I ask the receptionist, and she saids that she probably in meetings.

My question is, should I leave a voicemail? What should I say? Ask her to call me back? I prefer to speak to her in person. Again this is a cold call, so who knows maybe there are no job openings. I don’t want to bug them too much (but it is a dream to work at this specific establishment). Or you think this person is ignoring me. So I continue everyday call so I can at least speak to her?

I think your issue was that you waited a little bit too long to call them. If you wanted to call to inquire about jobs for the season you should've called months ago. Getting a job is not something that takes a week.

Thanks for your reply. Fact of the matter is I recently lost my job, so no I couldn't plan this months ahead.

You probably are right, we're already in January. I guess I'll give up on following up.

I don't think you should give up following up. Your persistince will show them how much you want the job. Keep trying until you get a hold of them. When you finally talk to them, tell them how driven you were to contact them because of how much you love their copmany. Be prepared to tell them what you love about their company and how you would love to be a part of the team. Showing your passion and drive is a good thing. I know people who my company doesn't hire just for the simple fact they didn't seem to want it bad enough (i.e. not showing up to events, returning calls/emails timely, etc…)
