Does anyone have advice on timing for REG? It seems like so much material that can have detailed MCQs for a 3 hour exam. Has anyone run into issues with finishing on time? How much time should you save for SIMS? I have taken FAR and AUD so I haven’t had any experience with a 3 hour exam before and was curious what you all recommend.

    FAR-78
    AUD-89
    REG-88
    BEC-85

Both my budget and actual (sorry, studying for BEC right now!) for REG were 30 minutes per MCQ testlet, so that I would have 1:30 for sims. It worked out great. I don't remember for sure if I left early, but I know I wasn't pressed for time and had plenty of time to put in reasonable answers for sims and then go double-check in the AL. I may have left 15 minutes early or something like that.

    AUD 84 (1/9/14-Wiley books/TB + free materials)
FAR 83 (5/21/14-the above + NINJA 10 Pt Combo Lite)
    REG 84 (7/9/14-Wiley books/TB + NINJA Audio/FC/Notes)
    BEC 76 (10/5/14-Wiley books/TB + NINJA Audio/FC)

Surprisingly, for my REG exam, I don't remember having many questions that had long, drawn-out calculations. I finished MCQs, and had an hour left for SIMS. (I'm not a fast test taker…I like to double-check my work.) And, I needed every minute of the hour I had left to try to figure out the SIMS :-/

I give myself a couple of minutes for every question. If I feel I'm taking too long, I flag it, move on to the next question, and come back to it before I finish the testlet. You could easily eat up 10 minutes thinking about a question, if you let yourself. And you can't afford that kind of time for one question!

    AUD: 84 - Oct. 2013
    BEC: 83 - Feb. 2014
    REG: 91 - May, 2014
    FAR: 68, 96 - Oct. 2014...DONE

While it can be very hard to adhere to your budget by hemming & hawing over flagged answers in early testlets, you absolutely cannot risk shorting yourself on the Sims.

I went right down to the wire on REG because I spent too much time reviewing my MCQ's. Time management is a huge element of the shorter exams (REG/BEC).
