    Hi guys,

As you can tell from the topic of this post REG didn’t work out the last time. I used Becker the first time -didn’t work, Roger cram + Ninja Mcqs (didn’t get through all the questions-no time) for the 2nd attempt increased my score by 2 points. Now for my 3rd attempt, I decided to purchase the Roger course (really like his teaching style)- will also be supplementing with Ninja mcqs. Just wondering if anyone out there has RECENTLY used Roger and was successful.

    Any inputs will be appreciated.

    Thanks!

I failed the 1st time with a 73 (my fault, not the material's), and passed with an 82 in Q3 2014. Don't know if you consider Q3 2014 recent enough.

I passed all 4 parts using Roger Lectures + Wiley CPA Excel Test Bank+ Ninja Notes ( Ninja notes for all sections except BEC).

I love Roger. I most likely wouldn't have gotten it done without him. I used to study with a friend who was using Becker while I used Roger; if I had to use Becker I would have gone insane from all the “ok now, highlight this.” Personally, with the limited cursory experience I had with Becker, I believe Becker teaches the material a little more in-depth. But I wouldn't be able to stay awake for that.

Roger kept me motivated and somewhat interested which is really what I needed the most. It's a marathon race, not a sprint. I wasn't aiming for 99s. I was aiming to just make it across the finish line and Roger was very good at doing that for me. I watched his course lecture videos, not his cram course so I can't tell you how the two compare. You'll still need to do MCQs to fill in the small gaps and to practice but his lecture videos are great.

Becker did not work for me in any way. I definitely struggled with the teaching style as well. Extremely boring!!!

On the other side, Roger was my saving grace. Instead of memorizing formulas, I was able to understand the material…especially for FAR…and I feel I didn't just pass the exam, but I know the material which is important for me. He is engaging and makes the material interesting. If I were to start again I would not think twice about getting his materials.

I used roger in Q1 2015 and passed with 1st attempt.

His REG lectures are more interesting (compare to FAR) and I suggested you skip his testbank and replaced it with Ninja MCQ.

    REG - 80 (02/13/2015) Roger + Ninja Flash Card + Ninja MCQ + Becker's Note
FAR - 84 (05/29/2015) Roger + Ninja MCQ + Some Wiley book questions
BEC - 77 (08/27/2015) Roger + Ninja MCQ + Half Wiley book questions
AUD - 87 (08/28/2015) Roger + Ninja MCQ + Half Wiley book questions

@moreinfo 2013 Yes, he really teaches you “why” instead of “Again..highlight this, underline this, circle this”. Just a little tips, Roger didnt cover stock option well and I suggested you may put in some time to study the Becker R1.4 lecture.

    REG - 80 (02/13/2015) Roger + Ninja Flash Card + Ninja MCQ + Becker's Note
FAR - 84 (05/29/2015) Roger + Ninja MCQ + Some Wiley book questions
BEC - 77 (08/27/2015) Roger + Ninja MCQ + Half Wiley book questions
AUD - 87 (08/28/2015) Roger + Ninja MCQ + Half Wiley book questions

thank you all for all your inputs. @Mika awesome score and thanks for the advice… I will be sure to read that section in Becker. How long did it take you to get through the chapters for Rogers? what was your study method?

@sleepoptional and moreinfo2013 what test bank did you practice with? Would you also comment on your study method as well. Thanks!!

@cpaimustpass, Watch the lecture (section by section) → Try and complete the Class Question with him (Start writing notes) → Finished the Study Question (keep on writing notes) → Finished the IPQ (keep on writing notes)…then once I completed the whole book, Non-Stop Ninja MCQ (keep on writing notes) until you saw smoke coming out from your ears.

    Good luck on REG~~

@cpaimustpass: I used Wiley CPAExcel Test bank for REG. I didn't have to pay for it, but if I did I would have probably gotten ninja test bank for REG instead since it is much more cost friendly. I did use ninja test bank for audit though, and found it to be good.

    My study method was:

Watch all Roger Videos in order > Rewrite all Ninja Notes once as a fresher > Do all Test bank problems while flagging questions I either got wrong or was uncertain of > Rewrite Ninja Notes a 2nd time > Redo only the questions I had flagged or got wrong from the first round of questions until I understood most of them > Do as many practice tests until your exam.

Then on test day, show up 60-90 minutes early in the parking lot and read/skim ninja notes so it is fresh in your mind for the exam.

I never sat down and read the Roger textbook for any of the exams. I would glance over it while the videos were going on but I didn't bother to read it completely. My studying method was to bombard myself with MCQs over and over so I can strengthen my weak spots while using ninja notes to constantly refresh my memory.
