Quick question; I have the Wiley 2013 text book. I also have the online test bank; i am using Roger's lectures. The way I usually study is go through the text book questions then move onto the test bank.
But because the textbook is 2013 (Pre-July) some of the answers may be incorrect. Do you think I should just stick to the testbank? Or still go over the questions in the text book anyway?
@jeff: Hi Jeff, I am scheduled for REG on April 21 and am studying the 2013 tax laws using Becker. I was looking into buying the audios, but the demo says that it has been updated for 2014 materials. Does that mean the audios are on 2013 tax laws or 2014 tax laws?
In fact, I used 2012 books for all other sections and passed.
When you are working on WTB just read through Text Explanations. In 90% there are no changes. Gift tax exception is now $14,000…. IRA deductions are now $5500…. phase-outs changed…. But the principals stayed the same. I believe you should be fine
Just got a passing audit score, so now I can fully commit to Reg in Q2. I am going to start this Monday and I plan to study harder and smarter than my previous two exams. I am truly looking forward to it!
I spoke to an ancient wise man who sent me on a mushroom induced journey through an ancient forest to find the key to passing the CPA exam. A talking spider monkey told me to throw the last of my drinking water in the dirt to find what I was looking for. So I followed his instructions and the following message appeared in the soil:
"Do 5000 multiple choice questions for each section"
Preparing for my second go around with REG. Was bummed with my 68 in February, but I walked out of the testing pretty confident that I had failed. It just wasn't the same feeling as the first three tests. Last time basis really through me so need to make sure I understand that completely.
I did the Yaeger videos for the first time and have typed notes, same with BLITZ. I just purchased Jeff's NINJA Notes for REG and am starting to go through and write out those. Plan on going through and re-studying for two weeks or so, then continue to hammer MCQs.
I just want this to be over!!
Good luck everyone!
PS @ayafzal78 – House of Cards is awesome. My wife and I just finished Season 2 this week. Now the wait begins for Season 3.
You can pass REG without tax exp. Many people have done it.
You just need to study really hard- be true to yourself that you are absorbing the concepts and really being able to apply it to any given situation they throw at you in the SIM's. You will pass.
I also recommend going through the IRC to get more depth on what your review course may not have gone into depth in.
Everything is fair Game to be tested in REG… example lets say the topics are Apples bananas oranges and a little bit of grapes. Just because the “grapes are small” does not mean it can't come up as whole SIM – you can get a SIM on it.
So don't think oh these major chapters will be the SIM's š Happy Studying!
