I am going to be a registered CPA in Illinois whenver they get around to issuing me my number. I got in before the deadline. Anyway, on my resume, linkedin etc can i just be Ppierce, CPA or do i have to be Ppierce, Registerd CPA?

I don't think I've ever seen anyone list their certification after their name as “registered CPA”. Is there a difference between a CPA and a registered CPA?

its really specific to two tier states like Illinois is/was. Registerd CPA means you can call yourself a CPA but cannot sign off on attest services. Its essentially for individuals who don't yet have the work experience.

Since it is legal for me to put CPA on my resume, that's what I put 🙂 I even put my license# on it.

forever4: You can use the CPA title if you have a full license CPA or a registered CPA (RCPA), this is Illinois law.

But only if your license is not expired, or suspended or inactive.
