Resume Writing

    How relevant is executive summary for applying. I’ve only listed the engagements I had with my current employer not the specifics on their required job duties for my executive summary. First time job hunting again since who knows when so had to research about resume writing, cover letter, etc and I did not research about executive summary.

    Another question, can I withdraw my application and resubmit? Do I need to call the HR first for formalities? How will the absence of executive summary (or broad executive summary), withdrawing application/resubmitting them affect the determination of an interview?

    In my opinion executive summary/objective is not important at all. You could probably omit this entirely.

    Hi King,

    Thanks for the repsonse. Well, I had withdrawn my application and the system I'm applying to doesn't accept reapplication anymore. I'm trying to get in touch with the HR on the company I'm applying regarding this and hopefully I get a response… I really like to get into that company, but it seems I need to move on and look elsewhere.

    I really should practice with other company before going into the company I want to work for.

    Yeah I would think that talking with HR is your best bet. Who knows, they may give you the chance to interview after all. Once you're there you have a real chance to impress them. And I would say that any interviews when you're just starting out are good experience. It took me a long while before I was decent at interviewing so get as many as you can early on. Good luck!

    I got in touch with the HR and I was able to resubmit my application. I'm crossing my fingers and hope that I get the job.

    I don't include executive summary or objectives either. I feel like those are things to talk about either in a cover letter or in person during an interview

    It's funny. I just got a call from the HR earlier on the company I wanted to pursue. Their job posting was being updated weekly and they had forgotten to take the job posting off from their site as it was filled already. I believe it was opened a month ago. They said that they will keep my file on their system.

    Oh well, it seems it's not really the job for me. Time to look elsewhere.
