Retake REG as soon as possible or wait?

    Hello fellow ninjas,

I am in a dilemma and would like some opinoins. I just found out I failed REG with a 69. I studied for 6 weeks but saw it coming since I have always been horrible at tax and Im working full time at a big 4. During my studying time, I have also been planning a wedding which is currently 5 months away and have some things that need to get done on that side of my life. We are apartment searching as well so I am juggling many things on my plate. I was thinking that I might just take a break on CPA stuff (have three passed) and wait to retake REG in May after all wedding stuff is done. I want to enjoy the holidays and enjoy the rest of my engagement but I don’t want to regret not pushing through if it would be easier to retake it sooner rather than later!

Thanks for all advice! I haven’t had to do a retake so i am not sure what that experience is like and welcome all advice and opinions!

I suggest just powering through it and getting through with it as soon as possible. I've seen other people in your situation who pass 2 or 3 tests very quickly who then take their time and go at a leisurely pace; it doesn't always work out, I wouldn't advise taking that risk. When would you plan on taking REG if you don't take a break, now in November?

As for the retake… just view it as a brand new test. Do not assume that you will see anything again that you saw the first time because chances are you won't.

Thank you so much for your help! I would be taking it the first week of January if I decide to retake it.

Yeah I would just power through the holidays, maybe take a couple days off max. Because if you try to take the whole holiday season off… let's be honest, you're going to still be thinking about it the whole time anyway. 🙂
