I would like to know what is your study strategy for regulation??? First 9 chapters is about taxation and rest seem more business law materials. I’m planning to take exam in January 2016. I’m already feel overwhelmed with so much detailed information in taxation area. There is no way you can remember everything. Anyone study business law section first then taxation?? Also i did some interactive multiple choice questions and didn’t do very well. I got answer wrong by 50/50. Lots of tricky questions lol. I heard interactive questions are more harder than actual CPA exam questions. Is that true? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I just took and passed REG in November using Roger. I will preface this by saying that I work in Tax, so the material came easier to me than most. I would say make sure you remember his acronyms, and make sure you understand the big picture issues (like what the 1040 looks like, what are adjustments for AGI vs deductions, etc.). Don't blow off business law, but don't spend too much time on it either. I got bogged down in some of the contract/common law material and decided to ditch it and use my time to reinforce my tax knowledge. Maybe I got lucky, but Circular 230 was the only non-tax issue/topic I was heavily tested on. I would also say listen to the lectures about individual and corporate tax, but really concentrate on drilling MCQ's, especially if you start to fall behind. Also, don't forget the SIMs but don't spend too much time on the research SIM either. As long as you are familiar with the IRC, the research SIM should be a slam dunk. Good luck!

I also passed REG using Roger. I passed in August. Let me preface by saying i also worked in tax for 2 years so quite a bit was easier for me. Particularly the tax forms and schedules. With that being said, i only studied for 23 days. I read the chapter, then did all MCQ, I don't think i watched any lectures seriously. I mean that i would play them in the background at work but i really didn't listen.

Know tax as best you could and professional responsibilities/ethic. Know the schedules that go with the 1040, like the Sch A, B, C, D, E and some other misc. ones. Understand Amended returns and when they are due. The Due dates were tested pretty heavily for me. Go over the Law section but don't spend too much time on it. Tax is the most important obviously. I would just do the readings and the MCQ non-stop.

The CPA journey is truly a nightmare.

I used Roger for REG and failed the first time with a 68. I felt like Roger's material doesn't cover everything in depth enough. This time I took it, I bought Ninja Notes and Ninja MCQ. I highly recommend the Ninja MCQ because it does a better job explaining why the answers are wrong/correct. There are also a bigger variety of questions. I'm waiting for my score on Dec 9 and I have no idea how I did but I definitely feel that Ninja MCQ helped a lot.
