I have a list of a few recruiters of companies I am interested in including Big 4 and some private companies. Is it right to just send them an informational email asking if they have any position or I can go ahead to tell them that I am interested in working with them with my resume and cover letter attached. Is this a good idea? How do I go about this without sounding too pushy. All ideas will be appreciated. Thanks!

It depends what type of recruiter they are…if they work for a specific public accounting firm, then sure I'd give them my resume and cover letter and ask if they have any positions available. If they work for a recruiting company I wouldn't give them my resume unless we had come to an agreement about what type of position I wanted and had agreed to work together. Otherwise they could forward you job leads that don't even interest you in the interest of getting paid to place you any-old-where…

As they are Recruiters at public accounting firms, definitely email them. Let them know you are interested in what opportunities are available at the firm and you wish to learn more about them.
