Should I complete 150 credits of Undergrad credentials, before taking the CPA exam?

Maybe I should complete 120 credits, then sit for the exam to see if I’m competent of passing; if I don’t feel I’m ready, then maybe I’ll pursue a Masters degree.

Plenty of people take the exam, and pass all 4 parts before pursuing additional credits to meet the 150 credit requirement.

I would go straight into the Masters. Depending on your flexibility it will take a few years to complete. The last thing you're ever going to want to do is go back to school right after passing all four parts of the CPA. I went straight from Masters to CPA and simply cannot wait until I am not a slave to school/certifications/everything that is life draining.

It really depends on if your state has a time limit to complete the 150 credits after finishing the exam. Some states do and if that was the case I'd get the 150 first. In the states that have time limits, its usually generous like 3 or 5 years but you never know what lies ahead and things come up that make those years fly by without finishing the credit requirements.

do it at the same time. grades are not important in the masters (unless you want to go to like a t14 law school or top 15-20 mba in the future), as long as you dont fail (shoot for at worst a b) and get the masters. its tough but you can be done with everything within a year and than work hard as possible when you start full time

Tough times don't last. Tough people do.

Is it just certain states that let you sit for the exam without 150? What about California? I'm 6 units shy of 150.. 3 units shy for ethics and 3 for accounting topics. Can I still sit for the exam?

for CA, you only need the 36 units accounting and 36 units of business and a total of 150 units to sit for the exam. the extra required ones can be completed later.

Google “UNA CPAExcel Prep.” You can easily have your 6 units by the end of the current semester, while studying. In 2014 I passed 3/4 parts, while working FT, taking care of my 2 kids, and completed 16 units.

    FAR - 7/13 - 72, 11/13- 74, 2/14- 82!!! Best score ever (for me)!!!
BEC - 1/14 - 75!!! Perfect score! First Pass! YAY!!!
    AUD - 8/14 - 80!!!
    REG - 5/14 - 72, 10/14 - 66, 1/15 - 78 - DONE FOREVER!!!
I did 5 of the UNA and CPAExcel classes to earn units.

I would finish school then sit for the exam. I passed and still have to take four more classes to be licensed. It would have been nice to be done done with the passing of the exam instead of having to go back to school again.
