Should I get a tutor?

I am in need of some serious help. I cant seem to pass. I’ve been a few points shy with AUD, BEC, REG (72,72,73) so I am confident next time around I will get it, but with FAR I cant seem to score anywhere near high enough. I have taken FAR 4 times now with scores 63, 56, 66, 62 in that order. I stopped trying with the other parts and was only taking FAR in hopes of getting it out of the way which didn’t work. Each time I have done something different to improve my score but instead I seem to be doing worse. Each time I learn a little bit more than I did not fully understand before. I have Becker, wiley testbank, and ninja notes. What to I do??? I am seriously thinking of getting a tutor because I study a lot so I know I am putting in the time and I feel like I am grasping the concepts. I score really high in the progress tests. I started taking intense notes and rewriting the ninja notes. But its still not enough!

I also work at a big 4 and have some ridiculously long hours so getting study time in is extremely challenging. Even with taking FAR 4 times there were large time gaps in between because I was just too busy. I am so stressed out that I can’t seem to improve my score. Taking the time to study is hard enough as is and repeatedly failing is killing my confidence. I am out of options I feel so defeated. I don’t know where to go from here. Can anyone give me some advice because I feel like I hit a wall.

Have you considered using other review courses? I used Roger and he was great. He has a free BEC class this Saturday.

Yeah I have mixed feelings about getting another review course because I feel like the ones I have are good courses. That's why I was thinking I needed a tutor to help me with J/E and other things I am weaker with to hone in on my trouble areas. Is Roger a teaching course? I hear that teaching courses are better if you need more assistance in learning as opposed to the review courses like Becker.

Weird… I replied to this but it never got posted. Anyways, what I basically said was that you should consider taking PTO and studying for like 12 hrs a day for 7 days straight then taking the test (if you have been doing this, perhaps do the opposite – 4 to 5 hrs a day for a few weeks, etc).

For me, 12 hrs a day * 7 days ish worked the best.

    B - (4/2012)
    A - (5/2012)
    R - (1/2012) Done!
    F - (10/2011) Done!

You mean to just cram FAR in a week…is that enough time to even get through all the material?

i was in a similar situation. i used becker homestudy in 2006 and becker live class in 2010. 12 exams later, i had not passed any exams. i knew i had to do something different and switched to yaeger and got my first pass in AUD then passed BEC. i failed REG a couple of times tho before passing this past wave

if you are putting in quality time and still not passing i would switch review courses, maybe becker is not for you. if anything, a new review course gives you new motivation

don't give up! you can do it!

    REG-65,71,74,73,70,74,79
    BEC-60's,60's,69,71,76*,78
    FAR-67,66,65,79
    AUD-54,60's,65,83*,69,80
    *expired

    DONE

I've often thought the same thing (especially for FAR since it's the one I've never passed), although haven't had much luck in finding one. But yeah everyone says its all about the concepts so I must be missing some and these “slick” review courses aren't able to show them to some of us. I keep saying I want to create my own review course ie maybe drawing up a balance sheet with info on how all the numbers get there and go through the sections in the order that I think I need them but I keep feeling overwhelmed/lazy/whatever to actually do it – but maybe I'm finally ready. One thing did stick in my head from a coworker was how she said she'd taken a review course and didn't pass all of her exams with it and it wasn't until she just went through on her own reading wiley (I think) that she passed the one's she had left.

Use Gleim test bank, it cheap and hard but it make you pass. I've tried them all. Wiley sucks. I tried the homecourse, cram which brought me up one point. Gleim finally finished it for me

    Audit Passed
    FAR Passed
    REG Passed
    BEC ??

For FARE i would consider a different study approach, looks like your fundamentals are not there, if you are scoring in the 60's and even a 50. I would really sit down and understand FARE realy good.

For the rest if you are scoring in the 70's, the knowledge is there, just need to brush up on few weak areas.
