Should I purchase Ninja Notes?

    NINJA Question –

I recently failed REG on my first attempt with a 73. I plan to take REG again beginning of April, so that leaves me with about 4 or so solid weeks for studying. Thinking about completely re-reading every chapter in Becker just makes me nauseous.

I looked at the sample Ninja Notes for Individual Taxation portion. The notes seem very straightforward and not as wordy as Becker chapters. To me, Becker seems more textbook-like, which is nice the first time studying for a particular portion, but since I’ve already looked over that stuff, I feel that Ninja Notes may be a quicker way to review all the material again. I’m not completely discarding Becker material for these next few weeks; I just think that Ninja Notes would be quicker and more to-the-point. Also, I am not looking to spend a whole lot on supplemental material, and Ninja Notes seem relatively reasonable.

Of course, I will be doing MCQ after MCQ with Becker software, but I’m mainly just wondering about the re-reading and re-writing notes part of the studying.

I am wondering how people feel about the Ninja Notes and whether this would be a good route to take for looking over the material again. Looking for some firsthand experience from someone who has studied and/or reviewed with Ninja Notes. And as always, any additional advice would be helpful! Thanks!

Ninja notes are what got me from a 71 in AUD to an 84.

You do need to study as if you've never taken the test before. You don't need 2 more points, you need 75. So I would re-do Becker since it seemed to work for you and add the Ninja notes. They're not intended to replace a full course but to supplement it.

    FAR- 77
    AUD -49, 71, 84
    REG -56,75!
    BEC -75

I would definitely recommend them. I used only the Ninja Notes, Audio, and Wiley test bank for my exams and received my final passing score yesterday. I downloaded them to my tablet, smartphone, and computers and would pull them up at every opportunity. I would also recommend the flash cards. They are all AWESOME!

    REG 75
    BEC 81
    FAR 75
    AUD 82

    I AM DONE!!!!!

    @Tasia

Highly recommend the NINJA notes, they are wonderful. I would also recommend the NINJA Audio. I've used the NINJA Notes and Audio for all four sections. Currently, listening to Jeff discuss Governmental for my FAR test this Friday. As mla1169 said, you need to study as if you haven't taken the test before. You got this…order the NINJA materials, MCQ until you want to vomit, rewrite your notes and you will be set….the NINJA way is the best way!

    GOOD LUCK!

I highly recommend Ninja notes. The audio and flashcards are also very good. Yes, the notes are a great way to get an overall review. For every section, they helped me to pick up on things that I missed from study materials and it re-enforces the important topics. I know I picked up points by using them.

LOVE the NINJA products. I have the notes and audio. I started with FAR back in May (studying that is) and with a full time job, 2 kids, 2 needy dogs and a husband that is out of town like 60% of the time I was totally overwhelmed! I finally broke down and got the NINJA audio for all parts. Took the FAR exam in July and got a 72, then while studying for round 2 with FAR I bought the NINJA notes with less than a week until my test date. It wasn't enough time with the notes! 3rd time was the charm! I rewrote the entire FAR NINJA notes for the first time and on my 3rd try and BAM! My 10 extra points (as compared to no NINJA notes)! I'm a beleiver! Best couple hundred bucks I ever spent. Maybe that is a little exagerated, but I'm very happy with the products. The notes are so concise and make an overwhelming amount of material seem a little less overwhelming. The audio for me is better after the notes but I'm still listening to the REG Individual Taxation all the time while I go through that chapter in my review material.

I also used the audio and notes for BEC and passed the first time around.

I'm studying for REG right now and I actually don't own the NINJA notes for REG YET. I have every intension of buying them soon though.

    FAR - 7/13 - 72, 11/13- 74, 2/14- 82!!! Best score ever (for me)!!!
BEC - 1/14 - 75!!! Perfect score! First Pass! YAY!!!
    AUD - 8/14 - 80!!!

Not sure if its too late….

Fellow Becker candidate here. You shouldn't just purchase the notes, but you should purchase the entire ten point combo for the access to WTB questions.

    AUD - 75*, 88 done 5/14! (*exp)
    BEC - 74 , 77
    REG - 65 , 76 (10 point combooo!!)
    FAR - 69 , 75

Absolutely! Purchase the 10 point combo and add your notes to them. Rewrite them and study them. Make sure you have a strong understanding of the topics covered in the notes. I wouldn't be a CPA today without the 10 point combo…especially the ninja notes.

    Thank you again Jeff…times infinity!!!

@StephAV…Congrats on passing FAR…I am actually taking it my second time on Friday…I have rewrote the NINJA notes and listened to the NINJA audio several times, even along with the NINJA notes. I did all the Becker MCQ's and about to finish all the WTB MCQ's. Do you or anyone have any recommendations on what I should do on these last two days?

kkimi – Sounds like you are well prepared. This last time, when I actually passed I spent my last few days focusing in on topics that were more difficult or less familiar and I didn't really understand. I used my review course book and looked over those sections one at a time (I use Roger) did his questions, he generally has 5-10 questions at the end of each chapter (being sure that I understand the right/wrong answers). Then I'd look over my NINJA notes for that topic. I also reviewed JE's on things like Bonds and Pension and Stock Options…

I still felt totally flled with anxiety and like I didn't do enough. I left the exam fearing that I might have failed miserably and dreading having to explain myself at work… I'm still surprised that I passed and with an 82! I keep looking it up, just did and it is still there, amazing. I scored stronger in NPO and SIMS. I thought my SIMS were the most difficult out of my 3 FAR exams! I have scored weaker on mc on every exam and I did this time too. I use the WTB and my scores on there were way lower. I think my average for FAR was MAYBE 70%. I went into this knowing that mcq are my weakness. I'd prefer to work a problem with numbers than answer some theoretical question.

Did you rewrite the notes before your first test? I feel like that is REALLY what gave me the added points. I'm sure that final review of my weaker subjects didn't hurt but not sure how much it helped.

    FAR - 7/13 - 72, 11/13- 74, 2/14- 82!!! Best score ever (for me)!!!
