Should I reschedule?! Thoughts please

So my exam is July 23. I am using Becker. I have watched all the lectures. I just finished ALL the MCQs (some for the first time, some for the second – not including the optional) and SIMS (first time) for F1-F4. I’m scoring roughly around 50-60%. And roughly 70% on progress tests. I still have to go through all the MCQs and SIMS for F5-F10 (though I’ve done ~50% of the MCQs).

I’m seriously panicking because accounting is not intuitive to me and I’m trying to dedicate a chapter of review per day, that consumes about 8hrs. But I feel like I need to push it to 10hrs… I’m concerned about burning out.

I already moved my test once..but only by 2 days. People have told me they usually do all the MCQs and try to get through them twice…but I just don’t see that happening with my time line?

I just can’t gauge whether or not I’m over worrying..help?! I know one can never feel totally prepared…

Unless, you have other mutually exclusive reasons to not skip the scheduled exam that you'd like take (gotta fly somewhere after the exam or gonna need more time for some other life event) reschedule it at least 3 weeks forward. Every chapter together MCQ and SIMS is like 3 days of non stop study. Multiplied by 6 chapters left F5-F10 – you end up being “don't call my name for 18 days while I'm concentrating”. And this is for minimum plan and a hope for a pass. Depending on what is your work experience, bachelor courses were you may pass, yet if you are a guy who can look into the eyes of a 6 chapter long material and can be as cold blooded as German soccer team, then you destined for nice results type of thing 🙂

    Good luck, both ways!

    FAR Scheduled 10/01/2014

I think you're fine. Just go all out on the MCQ's for the next 10 days. Get to the SIMS if you have time but frankly I passed FAR without ever doing a single SIM in practice.

    FAR- 77
    AUD -49, 71, 84
    REG -56,75!
    BEC -75

I think you will be fine, too. Don't focus on doing ALL of the questions twice. While that is a nice goal, you have to realize that sometimes it's no longer possible when you are getting closer to test day. Just focus on scoring 70's on progress tests, which you said you were already doing. Take a progress test on one chapter at a time. Make a list of all the topics so you start checking them off as you do them. Do it in the order of weakest to strongest topics. Make it a short progress test if you are using Becker so you see answers as soon as possible (think 10-15 questions at a time). If you score less than 70, review your notes and take a new progress test. Repeat until you reach 70% on that topic. Then move on to the next topic. This helped me with FAR to not get burned out and to focus on my weak areas first. When I got closer to my test date I was not panicking because I had nailed down my weak areas already. Good luck!

    BEC: 73, 81
    AUD: 85
    FAR: 71, 77
    REG: 74, 75...finally DONE! 😀

*This is my 2nd attempt at the CPA exam. For all of you who have failed this exam many times, given up on it, or taken a break like me, remember that it is still possible to finish what you started...failure is the opportunity to begin again more intelligently 🙂

I think you can accomplish a lot in 10 days of full time studying.

Make sure you are eating right and exercising, as it helps keep your brain more focused and efficient so there is less chance of burnout. Oh yeah, and getting enough sleep.

    AUD 84 (1/9/14-Wiley books/TB + free materials)
FAR 83 (5/21/14-the above + NINJA 10 Pt Combo Lite)

    BEC 76 (10/5/14-Wiley books/TB + NINJA Audio/FC)

I am in “panic mode” myself. I started studying for FAR on 6/1, with a test date of 8/31, and have done ZERO review thus far ( a tad over half way into the material). The time each night for me after work and on weekends, has just been keeping up with the lessons in CPAexcel. Quite frankly, it wouldn't surprise me if I remember nothing from earlier lessons. If I start making myself carve out an hour or so of review per weeknight (after work), and more on the weekends, can it be done?

What do they call an accounting person, who only managed a 75 on all four parts of the CPA exam....you got it, CPA!!!

    BEC (2/28/16) ----- 78
    FAR (09/10/16)-----

I never went through MCQ twice. As many on this board say you'll never feel ready. If you've gone over the materials and done the MCQ, I would say go for it. That's what I've done and had success.

Thanks for the advice everyone! I decided to move it Aug 1…which may be too much time, but this way I can incorporate break days and not be too burnt out by the time I take the exam 🙂
