My basic question is do you get partial points on a research question when taking the FAR test. My last two problems I had the first three numbers correct but the final paragraph that it is in is off.

Also in another SIMS question with journal entries I could fill it in with blank but chose not to do so. I also didn’t put in dashes for the debits and credits that weren’t filled in. https://puu.sh/ezbuh/63ef282faa.png

As a general rule of thumb should I fill in every slot in a problem like this. With either a (blank) option or a dash when no number is included.

Research is an all or nothing score, Always fill in the blanks! Put zeros in number blanks if there is nothing there.

I have heard that there is no partial credit for the research question but don't know if that is true. As for the journal entry questions, they are only going to let you input data in certain cells. There won't be any empty cells. There may be some instances where no entry is required and that will be one of the options you can chose from when you double click on the cell. Go to the AICPA website and do there practice test for FAR (it will require you to download something I think, no big deal). It will show you how questions will be asked and how you will be required to answer them. It is EXACTLY like the actual exam except the questions are ridiculously easy. If only the real exam was as simple as there practice test.

I would assume that there is no partial credit for the research question, but who the heck knows how they grade these exams anyway!….

I took my exam the other day. One of the sims had six rows but I only needed four I think. I could only select “blank” for one of them though – once I used it I couldn't use it elsewhere. I'm very confused about what I was supposed to do with the last row. I'm positive I got the question right but I'm really confused about what I was supposed to do.

My contact at the AICPA exam team said this:

“The response to the Research TBS is a single citation from the Authoritative Literature. Each Research TBS is treated and scored as a single response.”

    I hope this is helpful.
