It all depends on how your pregnancy is progressing. A few complications aside from having to pee every 5 minutes could be:

    1. Hip and back pain – trying to sit for 4 hours straight sucks.
    2. Heart rate and/or blood pressure spikes/plummets – have you experienced either of these? During the last 2 months of my pregnancy, my heart rate would randomly spike to 120 bpm for absolutely no reason, and my blood pressure would plummet, making me feel extremely dizzy. I nearly passed out a few times. There's no way I could take FAR while experiencing an episode, and there was no way to predict when it would hit.
    3. Increased stress level. This could potentially impact your pregnancy. Definitely talk to your doctor about it.
    4. Braxton Hicks – mine started at 31 weeks and were intense and regular, every 10-20 minutes. This could be really distracting.
    5. Last minute complications – keep in mind that you can't reschedule if you are within 48 hours of taking your exam. So if you happen to go into labor 2 days or less before your exam, you will be considered a no show.

That being said, if you are having a very easy and normal pregnancy, then go for it! It's probably easier to do it now than it will be with an infant to care for.

    GOOD LUCK!!!

Honey good luck! I recently found out I'm expecting (7.5 weeks) and I'm worried about taking the exam in general! What if all the sudden I get nauseous? So far I've totally avoided this and hopefully it stays that way (knock on wood)! What if a pee hits me and I need to go like NOW and I'm only on question 6? What if a gas attack gets me?! I'm just beyond glad this (BEC) is my last section!

I'm 24 weeks right now. Haven't really experienced any complications so far. I have never been pregnant before, so just don't know what to expect. Your inputs are really helpful. Thank you so much. Will talk to my doctor about this in my next visit.

I have taken AUD @ 13 weeks and i had severe nausea back then. So i had to take a pill before the exam (this made me drowsy in the exam) and i took 2 bathroom breaks. I wasn't sure about the exam but still managed to pass. Don't worry, you will be fine. Good luck to you.

    Congratulations!
I sat for REG when I was 36 weeks pregnant in last October. Unfortunately, I got 72, so I'm preparing for the retake in May (my baby will be 6 months then!). However, I thought it's doable to take an exam for a woman in late pregnancy, (yes other than peeing). Good luck!!

    @H –

If you can take FAR by 30-32 weeks, I'd highly recommend it. If you really focus and throw all of your energy into it, you can do it. I work full-time and am a single mom to a kindergartner. I spent 7 weeks studying for FAR. Now, I still don't know what my score is (come on, May 5th!), but I'm pretty sure I passed.

The closer you get to full-term, the more uncomfortable and tired you'll be, the worse your pee problem will become, and you're more at risk for something unexpected happening. 38 weeks is technically full-term, but I know a lot of doctors will not attempt to postpone labor beginning at 36 weeks. The baby will come when it feels ready, and that may not line up with your goals.

@ABTX411 The 30-32 weeks fall in non testing window. That's the problem. I'll try to take the exam asap though.

I finally passed AUD at 36 weeks pregnant. I recommend getting any tests out of the way while pregnant you can. Trying to study with a newborn is not easy.

    FAR: 55, 52, 66
    REG: 84*
    AUD: 54, 70, 73, 72, 79!!!
    BEC: 75*

@H – Have you heard that the testing window this quarter was extended to June 10? You might be able to get an appointment to sit on June 10th if you think you can cram all of your prep in by then.

Either way – best of luck with the exams AND the pregnancy!

Just make sure that the testing center you're planning on going to that the staff members have experience as Midwives.
