So overwhelmed w/ FAR….

I wanna cry. I’m only into F2, but I’m so nervous for this section. I finished F1, read the chapter twice, did all the hw twice, sim, read the note cards (Becker), and made my own notes, and feel just about okay with the 1st chapter.

I have to do that for all other chapters, but I feel like I won’t have enough time. I guess, I should take my time and study for it well, rather than rush and fail. I know it’s not impossible, but it seems so overwhelming.

Just had to get it out of my system:)

    Good Luck to all studying!!!

No worries, I bet 99% of us get overwhelmed with FAR. I know I was. Just remember that if you have come this far you are plenty smart enough to pass. Whenever you feel overwhelmed just step back and remember this is how it's supposed to feel going through the material, then keep plugging away.

My advice (well, this is Jeff's advice but it's GREAT advice in my opinion), hammer out the lectures before getting consumed with MCQ. AFTER getting through the material then go back and do MCQ.

Stay positive. Attitude is way more important than intelligence at this point. We all have the knowledge to pass, it's just a matter of who is committed.

    FAR - 2012 - PASSED (YAEGER)
    AUD - 2012 - PASSED (YAEGER + NINJA NOTES)
    BEC - 2012 - PASSED (YAEGER + NINJA NOTES)
    REG - 2013 - PASSED (YAEGER + NINJA NOTES + NINJA AUDIO)

    ETHICS - 2013 - PASSED

DONE!!! Thank you A71 for all the support! Hiya!!!

I felt the exact same way… i started studying for it last June and quit after F4 and skipped the whole testing window… I was like this is so much harder than the other parts… I moved onto BEC which was easier but not much fun…. i picked FAR back up in January (busy season) and pretty much just gave it my best shot… i didnt feel confident about anything… was getting like 50% on ALL homeworks… I was even going to skip this last testing window as well….. a week before test, I decided to cram making sure i covered F8 and F9… completely punted IFRS (which I dont suggest), pensions, and a ton of other stuff… I felt like I was wasting my time going to take the test and honestly was viewing it as a practice test…. what everyone says about thinking they failed and ended up passing is definitley not people blowing smoke…

Yep, FAR is overwhelming for most people. Is this your first exam?

I would recommend following the NINJA approach and watching all lectures before attempting any questions. That way you will have a general idea of the material you are working with, and can focus your efforts on the areas where you are the weakest.

You will probably have to come back to some sections 2 and possibly 3 or 4 times to really grasp them. I studied for FAR for 4 months (with some breaks here and there) and still didn't feel 100% ready on exam day.

I was also one of those people who left Prometric 99.9% sure I hadn't passed.

What frightens the most with FAR I think it is that this test is the one with the most material to remember… But on the brighter side it's what you took in college… Basically Principles and Intermediate Accounting… So I think it is the trick here is practice, practice, practice… and more practice.

I was very overwhelmed with FAR too. It is a lot of content and information. But, just keep plugging away and do lots of MCQs. You can do it!

Thank you for your kinds words, everyone!!!

This is my 3rd section (REG & AUD are done…though didn't pass on first time, let's just studying is very important:). I made my mistakes on AUD & REG, and learned how to really study, so hopefully that's a good thing.

FAR doesn't seem hard, just too much to remember. I'm schedule to take it on the 27th, but I might change it…I'm not working right now, and luckily have awesome parents that support me. So maybe extra time might be good. Let's see, if I really study 8hrs a day, then taking it on the scheduled should be okay.

I'm just scare to lose any credits, though my first credit expires 4/13, but still very frightening.

Thanks for the kinds words, I'll keep plugging away…and hope for the best!!!

How can FAR be easy?!?! You are amazing if you think that lol.

I think at the end of the day, each section can be easy/hard depending on the person. Ugh, let's just pass this thing and get it over with:!)

Good Luck with BEC & REG, you can def. do it:!)
