He only studied 10 days for FAR. 10 days!! After I set my new test date, he tells me that’s way too much time. He always asks how I’m doing and when I”m going to take it and that’s nice but please stop making me feel like its not okay to push for extra time. “I only took 10 days for FAR” “Well I’m different, I feel comfortable taking more time.” I told him. Mind you, he passed REG & BEC while an undergrad and also finished the rest on the first try. He’s just that type of person and that’s great for him. I’d love to be that smart. I’d love to spend 10 days and knock each test out like it was nothing. But not me, it takes me a lot of time to understand and commit to memory all these things I need to know for the test. I’ve already failed FAR twice and I’m really nervous that I wont pass. I’m scared and I want to take all the time I can. I’ll take the test on the last day (Dec 6th). Does anyone else get this? Is it weird that his comments make me feel bad for wanting more time?

That is wicked annoying, tell him to quiet down and to stop patting himself on the back. Here's what I did. I failed my first two attempts at BEC & FAR respectively, so now I only schedule my exams on weekends, so I never have to take a day off of work for the exam. That way nobody knows when I am taking it, and if I fail, I don't have to tell anyone, and if I pass, well I can let people know. It is much better this way, because nobody knows except my wife and family. Problem solved.

Everybody is different. I wouldn't worry too much about it. Someone I know said they passed FAR — just barely — after looking over the materials the night before. Rather than feel bad about studying A LOT longer than just the night before the exam, I looked at it as a positive, and thought, “if he can pass it studying just one night, I should be able to pass it after studying a lot longer!”

    REG - 93 (7/30/13)
    BEC - 90 (8/19/13)
    AUD - 98 (8/31/13)
    FAR - 84 (10/19/13)

I know what you mean. My boss is constantly talking about how much harder the exam was back then and we have a bunch of new staff that didn't work after college and only studied and passed and now come into public accounting thinking they know everything….

    I hate one-uppers.

    B 71 - 79 EXPIRED
    A 69 - 75 EXPIRED
    R 65 - 48 - 45
    F 56 - 61 - 65 - 64

Becker, Wiley Test Bank, Wiley Text and Ninja Notes

Experience - Done, like WAAAY done.
Still need 30 more credits, in basket weaving (gotta love new CA requirements)

Don't feel bad! A lot of people would be on your side!!

I really hate people to “show off” like that…seemed care about your feelings but actually just wanted to show how good they are! Don't give yourself too much pressure!

And you know what, passing FAR after 10 days studying doesn't mean anything to you. Stick to your own goal and your own plan! You are getting there! If he kept making you annoyed, you can say “thanks” and directly walk away. He should understand your point

    AUD-73, 73, 73, 79!!
    BEC-77!
    FAR-60, 83!
    REG-66, 72, 75!

    1. Don't feel bad!!!!!!! At the end of the day, your license will be no different than his. There are no extra credit points for speedy test takers!

    2. People who say things to try and make you feel small generally ARE small. Especially when they are male. πŸ˜‰ Don't let their feelings of inadequacy get you down! You know what's best for YOU.

    3. If he continually brings it up just to torture you, try shutting down the conversation with something like “I'm really swamped right now, I just don't have time to chat.” continually. Eventually he'll get the hint.

    4. I'd bet $100 that no one else at your office likes that guy either.

Seriously. How old is he? This guy is definitely trying to make up for SOMETHING ELSE by boasting about his exam passing skills.

I was at a bar a few months ago (not my choice of venue) and this 23 year old kid who was in town for some consulting training got separated from his friends and we started talking. He just passed his last exam. He made it a point to tell me his scores (high), that he passed on the first tries, etc. He was drunk so it was extra annoying. I was less drunk so I minded my manners but really wanted to comment on him being like, 8 inches shorter than me. Go brag elsewhere “shortie”

    REG - 65, 70, 80!
    BEC - 35, 62, 79!
    AUD - 73, 75!
    FAR - 65, 73, 70, 75! DONE.
