    Wiley Question –

Hello. I just started studying using CPAExel and feel like I either maybe moving to slow or this just has way to much material. My attack plan is to read a module, do the end MC questions with simulations and then use complete the test bank. When I am stuck on a topic usually I stick with it until I get it. Do you guys normally just document your weakness and keep on going and when your done with the whole review then go back to the problem childs? I am studying for FAR which I know is the longest but not sure if I am just being extra cautious. It has taken me a week and half just to get through basic concepts. Any suggestions should help.

Yes, Cpaexcel can be very overwhelming. You might need to supplement FAR with something else. I know….who wants to spend more money? I bought excel out of sheer excitement and have tried to use it for FAR several times, so I went with yeager for FAR. So find a way to narrow it down.

Ok now that makes me feel better because its not just me. The sort of good thing about the whole ordeal is I have no taken an exam yet so my clock has not started. I just am afraid I might be getting caught up in trying to master each and every single topic

Rudy you will find as you study and take exams that things will change. I started with cpaexcel, and changed to yeager, since I have taken two parts and failed both miserably, I have decided to ditch the videos and go with wiley, wtb and ninja notes. That's me but its good to decide on how you learn. I learn by doing, so doing the problems and writing the notes is working better for me. I certainly understand that everyone is different. Besides wiley is much cheaper.

I agree with what everyone else said. I like tncincy started with CPAexcel and just looking at the amount of videos I would have to watch I was overwhelmed. I know their videos are bite sized but when I clicked on that little drop down and saw all the material I had to go through it scared the crap out of me. So I went with Yaeger but I just could not stay focused. I have always thought I was an auditory learner but the whole process of studying for the CPA exam has taught me otherwise. I do better if I read the text, take notes, and try to explain it in my own words. It takes forever but if that is what I must do to pass then so be it. There are certain chapters that I just cant seem to grasp even after reading and taking notes that I do have to go back and watch the video for just that part and then go back and read the book.

Its all about trial and error in getting to what works best for you. Good luck!

    AUD - NINJA in Training
    BEC - NINJA in Training
    FAR - NINJA in Training
    REG - NINJA in Training
    AUD - 1/6/18
    FAR - TBD
    REG - TBD
    BEC - TBD

    AUD - 73, 72 retake 7/2/2016
    BEC - 8/20/2016
    REG - TBD
    FAR - TBD

I am so ready for this nightmare to be over. Been at this way too long.

Have you tried the exam planning tool? It will give you a calendar of when lessons should be completed based on your exam appointment. Personally I keep moving and make note of the problem areas so I can return to them after I've made it through the material.

There is a window that shows how many topics there are for a section, and so you know FAR has about double the sections for BEC and AUD with REG in between.

I found the videos helpful in studying with the program but working the problems doing practice with them put me over the top.

    Best wishes.

I have Rogers full 2013 course and now I'm using the CPAExcel PAPP program to make up needed college credits… I feel overwhelmed, but maybe I just haven't spent enough time. I have only purchased one of the two tax classes and I'm not sure what I'm supposed to be doing versus, what is not included in my course… I've been debating on how to proceed. I need the units so I'm going to do it. I'm just wondering can I just answer the questions and learn from my Roger material?? I have no idea.

    FAR - 7/13 - 72, 11/13- 74, 2/14- 82!!! Best score ever (for me)!!!
BEC - 1/14 - 75!!! Perfect score! First Pass! YAY!!!
    AUD - 8/14 - 80!!!
    REG - 5/14 - 72, 10/14 - 66, 1/15 - 78 - DONE FOREVER!!!
I did 5 of the UNA and CPAExcel classes to earn units.

My advice. Blaze through the MCQ in study mode, take notes on the ones you get wrong and keep moving. Do not read any of the text and do not redo any of the MCQs. As you are going along make a list of topics that you wish you had the time to read and keep moving.

    Have you heard the saying:

A mile wide and a inch deep

Well I think that the CPA exam is a mile wide and a foot deep.

The CPA excel text is a mile wide a 6 feet deep.

I really had a hard time with CPAExcels text, then I bought the NINJA notes. Since then I read the CPA Excel texts on maybe 6 topics for all four parts. With CPAExcel alone I felt like a big dummy. I spent years covering the basics of FAR….It was hard to get motivated when I could not move forward. The NINJA framework changed that.
