That is really crappy man. I am sorry.

Don't give up though. Adversity builds character.

Take a weekend, a week, even 2 weeks. Blow off some steam. Regroup, restructure your attack plan and conquer it the next time.

    AUD - (74),78
    BEC - 85
    FAR - 86
    REG - 84

Wow, that sucks! More proof that the grading on the exams are wonky.

    Becker
    AUD: 98 (4/13)
    BEC: 84 (5/13)
    FAR: 91 (7/13)
    REG: 91 (8/13)

If you do look at those score reports you'll notice one thing present on both..

    SIMS: Weaker

You can get Stronger in EVERY single category of the multiple choice, hell, you can even get 100% on the multiple choice… it's still only 60% of the grade.

The SIMs are a significant portion of the grade, and although there is no definite way to prepare for them, you have to give them the attention they deserve. The authoritative literature is there during the entire 4th testlet for a reason, not only for the research questions, use it as much as you can.

Good luck to you in the future.

I think it's mostly the sims' fault. The MCQs only take up 60% of your grade. Even if you got ALL of your MCQs to Stronger, I don't think the grade will go up if your SIM doesn't improve. That's my assumption.

    FAR - 62 (10/2/13), 50 (5/30/14)
    AUD - 73 (10/30/13), 66 (5/6/14)
    REG - 69 (4/8/14)
    BEC - 66 (2/27/13), 73 (4/21/14)

    Page 7 (question 8) (https://www.aicpa.org/BecomeACPA/CPAExam/PsychometricsandScoring/ScoringInformation/DownloadableDocuments/How_the_CPA_Exam_is_Scored.pdf):

“Can I pass the AUD, FAR, or REG sections just by doing well on the multiple-choice questions?”

“No. The portion contribution from task-based simulations in those sections is too large. You would need to get some of the TBS questions correct in order to pass.”

Although it gives you a “weaker”, “comparable”, or “stronger”, you never know if your categorization is borderline. In your case, I'm guessing your multiple choice score is either borderline “stronger” or your SIMs are very weak.

I feel your pain! and you are right its total BS. But as other said its all the SIMs, i agree take a few days a couple of drinks and sign up for audit you know this stuff a 74 is right there! Take it in early Jan, and use the AL for EVERY SIM, you will find the answers there, you can do this! DO NOT let this exam beat you, go back and kick it's ass!

    A - 61, 91!!
    B - 78!
    F - 76!!!
    R - 71, 73, 74, 69, 77!!!!

    Finally done!

This is my 2nd attempt at the exam, I had two parts passed (failed many) and I stupidly quit, big mistake. Now I'm back and with a vengeance!

@KADFC @dodgerdawg I agree with you guys. In my case, I did extremely well on my MCQ, then they completely screwed me over sims, but still barely passed! 75! Nevertheless the exam is BS.

Don't quit! Ur one small step from passing!

I sooo feel your pain!!!! My situation for REG is exactly likes yours.

On the MCq's i was strong on every single topic accept federal securities. On the SIM's i have been weak every time… Drives me nuts!

But listen I passed AUD on my fifth attempt so don't feel upset. People who are persistant do pass. Just keep studying, getting stronger until you know the material like the back of your hand. After getting 61, 69, 70 and 72 I finally murdered AUD with a 89. So it can be done.

Reg I promise to murder you In Jan/Feb 2014…. right now I have the daggers out for FAR 🙂

    FAR 05/27/14; 786/110 - Done !
