I took Audit yesterday, definitely don’t think I pass but you never know. Did I do bad on my testlets if my last one was the easiest? My testlets were Med – Med – Easy. Just wanted to know

Also, my simulations were pretty tough, don’t feel too good about my results. Oh well, life moves on!

You could absolutely have passed. Judging difficulty is going to vary depending on who you ask, what their strong topics were, and the proportion of strong topics to weak topics in any given testlet. I thought my last AUD MCQ testlet was easier than my other two because the questions were shorter and didn't require as much thought. I passed with an 85. Don't put too much faith in that Med-hard explanation the AICPA gives. You could have thought it was easy because you really knew the material that was in that particular testlet, but someone else could take the same testlet and think it was ridiculously hard.

I took Audit yesterday and all multiple choice testlets seemed easy/medium. I felt the same when I took BEC and I passed that test. Don't worry about it. You probably did good because the “hard” testlets were easy for you.

You have to remember that SIMS are 40% of the exam, so even if the harder easy testlet assertion by AICPA is accurate you can still pass. I happen to disagree that easy questions are subjective. I think that we have the ability to pick out simple vs hard questions on the exam. Easy question are basic and not confusing or wordy. The FAR exam that I failed got easier from testlet to testlet but I did poorly on the SIMS and my score was a 62, so I am sure I did poorly on the MCQs because my score was so low. The testlets in my AUD fail got easier and I got stronger on the SIMs but got a 74. So the easier testlet progression was consistent with me doing poorly on the MCQs.

I kind of wish the AICPA weren't so transparent about the adaptive bit of the exam, since it tends to make us hyperfocus on that aspect, which pulls focus from the real task of just answering as many questions correctly as we can. But candidates want to know how it works, and it should be as transparent as possible, so it is a double-edged sword.

I feel like there is a mix of subjectivity and what clearly is a hard question, as in much more complex and wordier, with more extraneous information thrown in. Out of my 3 tests so far, I think I only had one testlet which clearly had a larger percentage of those “it-takes-1-ridiculously-long-paragraph-to-ask-the-question” MCQs. That was FAR testlet #2, and I had felt like I did extremely well on testlet #1. But I didn't get any of those on AUD and passed just fine. Maybe I got a hard testlet and didn't know it since I knew the material. Or maybe I did just well enough to get a pass, but not quite well enough for getting a hard testlet. Who knows.

So try not to think about it. It's just crazy-making.

I felt the same way, this is my 4th time to retake the AUD. As exam progressed, i didn't feel the exam got harder and harder MCQ wise. I was actually having a little problem in the first testlet, but i did not think testlet 2 and 3 as hard as the first one. this time around, i felt MCQ are much more similar as the review Questions (questions are very similar to Ninja MCQs). I am hoping to pass this beast, and i believe you can pass this one too. Don't worry about too much if you testlet got harder or easier because you always have a chance to pass.

So what do you recommend I do? I cant take the retake until October (earliest) I have some time so should I study for another test for October and take Audit retake at the end of November?
