Took REG yesterday 11/20

I don’t know how many REG test’s are run simultaneously but I think they run about 3-4 different REG tests during any testing period.

My thoughts are more about my overall impressions of the REG exam. I took the REG test yesterday 11/20. This was my final test so I have done all 4 parts and if I pass (Dec 9) I will be done. I’m very happy to have this over with. I did use Becker which I thought prepared me very well not just for this part but all the parts. Out of the 72 MC questions there were only 3 or 4 which I did not know at all. On this test, the MC I completed in about 1 1/2 hours which gave me a good amount of time to complete the SIMs. I had studied the SIMs a lot with Becker. When I wrapped up the MC and got to the SIMs I was disheartened by what I saw. It can be very demoralizing when you first look at SIMs and you are pressed with time and the SIMS appear to be long, hard and impossible. However, do not go by first impressions. My advice is to calm down and just start reading the questions. Start with what you think is the easiest SIM. After working my way thru the SIMs on my REG test I realized after all they were actually easier than I thought. They were not long after all and answerable within about 5 – 10 minutes. I have seen this on every exam. What seems impossible is not once you start reading the questions.

    Two final thoughts:

Some may know this already but I think it is worth mentioning: The calculator they provide you can be accessed using the number keys on your keyboard. You do not have to use your mouse.

Also, I don’t know about anyone else but I found taking a Tylenol for headaches before the test helps a lot.

    Good luck everyone

I studied a lot. Weekends for sure. During the weekdays I was working so mainly in the evenings about 5 hours a night for about 4 weeks. Then a took this past week off to make sure I wrapped everything up. I read the material and did all the questions identifying those which I wanted to go back thru. REG is not a strong point for me so I have no real experience on tax or contract law or UCC. I did not read the book unless to look something up. I listened to the lecture, did the questions and the SIM's and the difficult questions multiple times and then I went back to the lecture and listened to it again. This was the first time I did that but I found it useful. There are things which are said during the lecture the first time around which I either missed or discounted or got wrong. The second time around I picked them up. I did not do this for the last chapter as I ran out of time. Becker provides a good one page summary of the chapter anyway which I reviewed. I also created a cheat sheet on Word as I was going thru the questions of things I wanted to review everyday or every other day. Probably NINJA notes would help with this. I never purchased NINJA notes just Becker. I found that my cheat sheet helped a lot. Good luck on your exam.

I take the exam on 11/26 and I've gone through becker R1-R3, R6-R8 and worked all the MCQ's. Now going through R4-R5 over the weekend and i feel I am running out of time. Any advice on best plan to attack this that will be really appreciated

Dee, I would focus on R3 and R4 in your final days. Beyond that I think R2, R5 and R6. Because of the limited time you have I would suggest more chapters but I think these chapters are good. R1 I imagine you know fairly well except for maybe the litany of credits. I wouldn't worry about those. If you get those, take a guess if you can't remember. I would know the general topics such as the formation of a Corporation, Partnership, calculating DNI, etc. I found my test spread the questions over all the topics. I remember one guy said to study AMT so I studied the heck out of AMT both Personal and Corp. I only had one question on AMT. Go figure. Good luck on your exam.

I was glad I studied the law portion extensively. Don't forget that part! Also, I used the code as a reference.
