I used Becker for REG. But used the Taxation book CCH for Corporate Taxation, Partnerships, S corps. They have lots of short examples that helped me to understand the topics better. For Corporate Formation (351 exchanges), Shareholder(SH) basis is: SH basis = AB (of property transferred) + Gain Recognized – Boot Received or SH= AB + GR – BR and Corporate Basis = AB + GR…..Becker has some good problems to work through on this, but I thought the CCH book explained the concept better.

    Good Luck in your studying

The first time through those chapters in REG, I was averaging the same on the MCQ and things didn't start clicking until my 2nd time through it during my final review. My personal advice is not to dwell on your scores the first time through the homework, try to understand your mistakes, and keep moving on with the lectures. Give yourself two weeks for a final review and your scores should improve when you start redoing the questions and do multiple progress tests.

    F - 85 (11/2012)
    R - 87 (1/2013)
    A - 92 (2/2013)
    B - 90 (4/2013)

    DONE!

I was the same way going through REG. Keep redoing the MCQs as you move along in your studies. Don't just do it a few times that week, go on to the next lecture and forget about it. Always keep reviewing as you're learning. That way, you aren't frantically trying to relearn things on your two week review. It'll be an actual refresher, as it should be. It'll get better, trust me.

    BEC: (4/2012) 88
    AUD: (5/2012) 91
    REG: (8/2012) 82
    FAR: (1/2013) 78 🙂
