What choices are you making this weekend?

So it’s story time. My husband is taking the kids to his best friend’s lake house this weekend. It’s supposed to be super hot up there. He just got a pontoon boat…..

I’d have the 2 hour drive there to study and the 2 hour ride home. I’d have ALL day. It would be peaceful. I COULD get some quality studying done.

So I told my husband that I was considering coming with. I would just need blocks off to study here and there. My test is MONDAY. He was getting excited – I could tell. So I went upstairs and started to pack my stuff.

He sends me a text message (yes, we’re dorks and text each other in the house) and it says, “Hey – I heard FAR was talking some mad sh1t about you…” And I just laughed. When I was in grad school, he always used to send me these random texts about tests that I “owned” or didn’t own. I knew the choice I had to make.

I chose to stay home. Not because I don’t think I’m ready. But because I am ready to put this thing down once and for all. I had my time to party after college. Do you think I studied May of ’04? Obviously not. I chose to party then. And then I didn’t pass in ’08 because of some other excuse.

What sacrifices are you willing to make to put this thing behind you? I am willing to give up any 8 hour day on a pontoon boat to be a CPA. That’s how I know I’ll be one!

Good choice. I can totally understand your mind set after college. I am going through that right now. The ole' “I thought I could just go to work and enjoy myself outside of work” mindset. All my friends are like me, have full time jobs or are still in college and are enjoying being young and making good money for the first time in our lives. It makes it really difficult to focus on something like this.

Sometimes I think, damn. I could live off 30K a year, and be able to go home and be happy. Then I remember that one day I will want this, one day I will hate my job and wish I had more options open, one day I will want to be on my own schedule.

That is my inspiration for the weekend.

I am taking an hour to see the solar eclipse on Saturday (it's a once in a while kind of thing!) but besides that, nose to the grind. I have a lot of space to cover before my battle with REG this week.

ALSO, it's your LAST exam!! Crush it!!!! I can not wait until I am in your position, as I'm sure I will be coming at that test with a “get out of my life!!!” vengeance!

    Happy studying!

Hustlin – I'm REALLY liking the “going after it with a vengeance” mentality! That's a good way of looking at it!

Aw man – I live in the mid-west so I won't get to see the eclipse! They listed the areas on weather.com and I was bummed when mine wasn't one of them!

Take it from me, you can put the test off but it will always come back at you, staring you in the face. I don't know how anyone does this while working full-time. Outside of tax season, I work part-time and that's how I've been able to do it so far.

Good luck, Hustlin and I hope your journey goes well.

I've got a similar setup (minus nearing the finish line of the exam)…my parents took my two young sons camping this weekend so I had last night free to study (and all I could do was recoup some serious sleep debt from studying the past 4-5 weeks with only 4-6 hrs of sleep ea. night) but I am soooo excited to have all day today, tonight and tomorrow to STUDY!!! I never get this opportunity so I am very excited about it (what a dork I am but it is what it is) 🙂

Good luck with your test and kudos to you for making the choice (albeit a difficult one) to stay home – at least you can go in on D-Day and have no regrets about could'a, would'a studied, etc. Sending you mad positive vibes on passing your last one!!!

I moved to Tokyo about two weeks ago for a work assignment. This is my first time in Asia and so far I've spent every day either studying or working. I fell a little behind when preparing to depart for Japan so now I'm working like 10 hours a day and studying like 4-6 hours a day on weekdays and coming home after midnight sometimes (I study at the office).

Anyways, this is my second weekend here and I am refusing to go out and see the nightlife until after my exam. I'm dying to go out and explore Japan but I'm sacraficing my weekends until my exam on May 25th. Tonight I felt it was necessary to go out to dinner and have a couple beers because it was a chance to hang out with some higher up executives in the company, but after that I came straight home and hit the books.

11:15pm here in Tokyo and sitting here with my books. Can't wait until May 25th exam is over with!!!!! I think we all have to make many many sacrafices for this exam. What a great feeling it will be to be done with it!

    FAR - 2012 - PASSED (YAEGER)
    AUD - 2012 - PASSED (YAEGER + NINJA NOTES)
    BEC - 2012 - PASSED (YAEGER + NINJA NOTES)
    REG - 2013 - PASSED (YAEGER + NINJA NOTES + NINJA AUDIO)

    ETHICS - 2013 - PASSED

DONE!!! Thank you A71 for all the support! Hiya!!!

@PorF I'd love to hop on planetside2 but I fear I wouldn't get off until later and eat away all of my study time.

I uninstalled everything for that same reason
