    Hey y’all !!

Please help me with the following questions:

Looking forward to replies from people who have been in my situation however replies from anybody would me much appreciated 🙂

    1. I have completed my Bachelor of Commerce (Honors) degree in Accounting and Finance from University of Calcutta, India. It was a 3 years degree course. Please tell me how many hours will it earn me towards the 150 hour requirement for the CPA exam just to get a rough idea before I send in my credentials for evaluation ?

    2. When I send my credentials for evaluation do I have to send the Original Certificate and Mark sheets ? If so then will I get them back ?

    3. I have heard that some states let candidates sit for the exam with 120 hours of coursework. Which are these states ?

    4. Anything else which I might need to know to sit for the exams as an International Candidate.

    Thanks in advance.

    1. Depends on the specific state. They will evaluate your education and let you know how many additional credits are needed and what kind.

    2. Not sure what those are, but I was required to send my official school transcripts. I imagine your school would send a sealed official copy of your classes and degree earned.

    3. Not sure. You can probably find that easy enough through google or maybe someone here will respond.

    4. Regarding sitting for the exam: once you pick your state look for the states accountancy board website. Should be an easy google search.

If you plan on coming to the US for work I would highly recommend you educate yourself on the process, challenges, and realistic expectations. There is a search bar at the top of the forum. I'd recommend you search for the term “India”. It will show you previous threads with similar questions to yours.

Have you thought about staying in India and working for the Big 4? All four firms have a strong presence there, and the top employees are able to do rotations to the US. Eventually, some are able to permanently work here. I actually have two coworkers who have done this, and was impressed with their work ethic and quality if work.

Even if you never are able to do a rotation, working in that capacity would give you great experience and help you if/when you decided to work in the US.

Not sure if this is helpful/applicable, but just thought I'd suggest it.
