Several people have mentioned testing in the bubble. What does that mean? And is it good or bad to test in “the bubble”?

I have wondered this, too, and it is generally mentioned along with BEC it seems.

The Bubble applies to BEC only. This is when your score falls somewhere between 73 and 77 based on how the computer scores your exam. If you fall into The Bubble, a human will review your writing component to determine your exact score. It usually takes a few extra days to get your score if you are in The Bubble. So it's not a good thing, because you 1) are borderline passing and 2) have to wait for your score.

I really don't see how the BEC bubble can have a score of 75 or above in it. I mean if the computer automatically graded a BEC exam at a 75, 76, or 77 why would they purposely look at it again to deduct points? Wouldn't it be if it was a 73 or 74 a human would want to re-score just in case the computer missed anything in the written response? I got a 75 on BEC and received my score immediately, no bubble waiting whatsoever.

Just my opinion though, I'm not saying it's right. No one knows…

I thought I was going to be on the bubble with the most recent score release and it turned out I got my score right away. I got a 76, so I agree DD Junkie, there should be no reason that anyone that got a 75 or above right away should have to be on the bubble.

Hmmm… ok, thanks. I received a 74 when I took BEC and my score was released at the promised time.Maybe my test had been reviewed by a human much earlier than the release date.

It just depends on how you did on the MCQs. If you did really well on the MCQs, and the computer gave you a crap score on the written part for an average of 75 or above, you're not going to get a human grader. It's just going to pass you with what the computer came up with. Likewise, if you did horribly on the MCQs, and the computer gave you a great score on the written part for an average of 74 or below, you're not going to get a human grader, it's just going to fail you with what the computer came up with. You see what I'm saying? That's why some boarderline people get their scores right away and others don't.
