What people say when you tell them you fail…..

My favorite was my mom’s text message this morning–“Sorry. I was hoping it did not post when i didn’t hear from you. I still love you”.

To which I responded– “good to know your love isn’t contingent on me passing.”

What other things have people said to you all?

    AUD-58, 62, 72, 74, 74, 75
took 5 years but I'm DONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well I wasn't told much because I only failed 1 time but I was told prior to taking the exam that it was probably best if I didn't take it because African Americans don't do well on the CPA exam. Really pissed me off!!! Probably the most motivating factor in my decision to take the exam.

I hated while I was waiting on scores, this:

    “you get your score yet”

“nah, I'm pretty nervous, had just forgotten about it”

    “ah, you passed”

oh, really? did you talk to nasba about it, then after failing, what MQcpasoon said:

“ah, shoot…well, I know you'll get it next time”

When I failed, the only people that I told were my parents. They just told me to just keep taking it and eventually, I'll pass.

My neighbor, on the other hand, keeps asking me every single time she sees me and it drives me off the wall. I just tell her I didn't take the test yet. Really, it isn't anyone's business. And it's getting on my nerves why she feels the need to constantly follow up on this every time she bumps into me. It's ridiculous!! I can't wait until I pass my last two sections, so I can tell everyone I passed them all and finally get them off my back!!

I was just in shock when my mom said “i still love you”—well geeeee thanks mom…good to know you didn't give that up when you found out I failed….

I've also been told “well you learned something from this didn't you”

Yeah I learned that the AICPA thinks I'm a better revenue stream as a CPA candidate than an actual CPA….

lmao hazeleastwood, i am african american too(jamaican really) and such a comment makes me feel even better about passing one exam on my first try.. and i expect it to continue that way for the rest of my exams…… we should start a tread for “what is said when u tell your friends you pass

    i have to admit i was caught off guard by some of the comments i recieved;

    1. I am so proud of you (weird to hear from ppl i am not so close with)

    2. I didnt expect anything less

    3. I already knew you passed( huh!! really) lol

Once you done with the CPA exam, would it say in which testing window you passed? Would my boss know when I passed each exam once I will tell him I passed all sections, but necessarily when I actually did …?

“you were probably just stressed the first time and won't be this time”

Yes, because there is no stress at all on a retake.

@anna–good question. I think it depends on your state possibly. My bosses will be signing off on my experience requirement for TX so they'll know as well as I give them a copy of all my passing scores each time a section is passed. I also know in TX that the only way they can look you up is once you are licensed and you aren't licensed here until you get your experience requirement signed off.

CalCPASoon- I literally sent my family members the pass rates for Q1 this last time because i kept getting that kind of response….they were shocked at how low the pass rate is.
