Yeah I've heard around 10%. Individual section pass rates are usually 45-50%. Hopefully you can go the distance without feeling the hopelessness of failing a section, ha.

I personally think it's higher than that. I think people just calculated the rate by multiplying each pass rate on a single exam by another pass rate. I don't think this is an accurate measurement, my two cents.

    well…(4/10)^4 is like 2%.

    i've read somewhere it's between 10-15%.

if it makes you feel any better, our live instructor told us:

US: pass rate is 40%ish per test

    China: about 30%

Japan: the examine is designed so that only 3% pass.

@makinthemagic what was your “magic” to passing the first time? did you study fulltime?

I think its a lot higher…simply doing the math doesn't consider anything. The same 50% of first time takers might all be bunched up with the 50% who pass, and the same group of failures fail

    500 smart ninjas always pass….

    500 unprepared ninjas usually fail…

If its the same bunch always passing and failing then the pass rate will be closer to 50% than 10% but I highly doubt 50% of first time ninjas are well prepared and pass.

I would imagine it would be higher than 10%. Almost all CPAs that I know personally all claim they passed all four on first attempt. I doubt they're lying because I don't see why they would.

If I managed to pull it off, the percentage has got to be more than 10%.

    FAR 88 (07/15/11)
    BEC 83 (08/31/11)
    AUD 81 (10/15/11)
    REG 83 (11/26/11)

I think it's got to be higher than 10% too. I took it back in 1996 when it was a two day test. They didn't give out scores between 70 and 74. You'd either get a 69 or a 75. I passed the acctg/reporting type section and the business law section, got a 69 in Audit, and tanked Tax with a 62. Ending up letting the two conditions expire because I was young with a new job in the big city. No time for studying. Back then I could see it being 10% as it forced everyone to study for everything at once.

Now it can be spread out which makes it more manageable. I took the first three in consecutive quarters, took the summer off, and just passed the last one so I sort of qualify.
