When you're frustrated/about to throw your laptop

Grrr. Wanted to finish Financial Risk Management tonight but it seems like every question is FML-worthy and I’m just seeing yellow. I’m getting so frustrated I’m at the point of just not trying, just looking and blindly guessing.

About to call it a night, even though I have 20 more to go. I figure no use doing them mad and not focused…I’m just going to have to redo them anyway….Finally understood hedges (my nemesis) and now I can’t seem to answer recall anything else in this chapter.

What do you guys do to deal with frustration? Switch to another source (Wiley, Ninja…ect), take a napuela, keep on keepin on and let the force motivate you…?

    Grrrrr.

I’ll admit, it probably has something to do with the A’s loss as well.

Better to drink a pot of coffee and concentrate on it. Hope this helps.

I had the same experience today.. I just got so frustrated re-reading the book, and just switched to doing something else. Maybe you should take a little break so you can re-group and once you let some steam off your chest, get back to it — do not let your frustration get to you. Goodluck!

I like to use a reward system. I feel it helps keep me focused, even if it is in short bursts of time. For instance, if I'm having a really hard time with a set of questions I'll try to keep pushing through and tell myself that I can be rewarded when I finish, whether it's going out to eat or watching a tv show that I like or etc. If there's a movie that I like playing on tv I try to not let myself watch it unless I finish what I need to!

A lot of this studying is in your head, meaning it's just as important if not more to have a tough mentality about it. Try rewarding yourself when you have good days of studying. It will make you feel a lot better!!!

Good luck and stay positive! đŸ™‚

Sometimes just guessing on a frustrating topic isn't such a bad idea. Doing mcqs is the best way to learn the material for sure. Guess your way through the hard topics and repeat them until you understand them. Key word: understand. Don't just memorize the answers. Read all the options, and why the question is wrong and why it's right. Oh and def take a napuela.

    Hey Hustin Hustin ,

How are you ? Just hang in there !! You will be fine , I would say take one step at a time . I was so frustrated with those MCQs., don't take that risk. Try to do 24 mcqs and then take a break . stick to 50 mcqs per day. quality > qunaiity ..

I totall agree with jenuno ..

ALSO when all fails, take a napuela!! ha ha right jenuno

    When is your exam??

@ Hustlin – IF I was to tell you that those deep lurking thoughts of you being a looser are actually true and that your future is going to consist of being a looser – people will not respect you, you will not drive a nice car, you will not live in a nice house, you will be broke and always always always you will live in shame and in regret. Would that make you angry? Would you want to ( and you sure have a right to ) punch me in the nose? If it would, then take that anger, I mean really spend a few minutes thinking what a looser you COULD be and meditate on that. Get angry, scream man! Now if you are angry, then take it and glue your a** to the chair – because you have a FEW more questions to do, and a few more pages to reread and to re annotate my friend.

P.S. I don't think you are a looser and your undertaking to take this horrible exam is a sign of your dedication to succeed. I just gave you a small nudge. Its Saturday Night – I am 30, I have a brand new sports car in the garage and my phone is blowing up to hit the city. Guess what I am doing – Attest Standards. đŸ˜‰

Thanks, everyone. I now have less than a week until my exam. I am finding that actually rereading the material and trying to find more information helps the frustration (who would have thought, right?).

Started my review today and its not going too horrible. I definitely should have made time for more progress tests as I have forgotten a lot of stuff. I think from here out it's going to be WTB MCQ and focusing on each topic until I score an 80. Maybe I will go back to Becker and do a few progress tests, but for now I can't stand seeing the “yellow highlight of terror” any longer.

@ Hustlin – You have to be a Spartan Warrior my man! Idea is to pass / beat this exam – Right now your adversary (BEC) is stronger – why not reschedule and give your self a few more weeks before battle – reset your mind set, re-frame – and beat this thing versus chasing it? I did that before and passed passed with 86 – every time I take an exam and am chasing it ( feeling like I forgot stuff and having a week to go) I failed. Im studying BEC & AUD. I passed BEC and lost credit ( long story and beyond this post) but im 100% sure you are not battle ready. Skype me if you wanna bs (taxadvisor1) – We're all Warriors, this is war, you are either victorious and conquer or get conquered. I have this mantra ” Its not the hours you put in, but what you put into those hours”.

Going in for another 12 hours of me vs AUD.

P.s. If that highlighter pisses you off – throw it out right now! This is your world, no?

I find it is hard to understand a topic if you are frustrated with it. Take a 10 minute break doing something you like and then come back into it with a good attitude. Sometimes tough subjects just need the right state of mind for you to grasp it.

PS: Highlighting things is pointless. Write it down on a legal pad. Your brain remembers what you write better than a yellow background.

I don't highlight anything. I'm talking about when you answer a question in Becker and it lights up as yellow or green depending if it is right or wrong.

I think it would ineffective to push my exam back. To say I haven't had enough time would be a lie, this is my second go-round with this exam. I missed it by 4 last time and have been re-studying for a good month.

My first round of these exams took me way longer than it should have and I didn't pass a single one. I'm ready for this to be over.

I think I may never feel prepared enough. The exam I took the longest amount of time on, FAR, was my worst score. For me, personally, I have to schedule and push myself. If I move the date back that will just give me more time to procrastinate. Plus, I'm really trying to get another shot at AUD in this quarter.

And just for the record, I'm a lady. The football picture is misleading, I know.
