Just took FAR for the fourth time, it’s my last part.

I’ve studied a whole bunch only to get to the exam and feel like i did nothing to prepare.

MCQs weren’t terrible, I would say 5-6 on each testlet were questionable.

SIMS were terrible. I got the research and one other without a doubt. One I’m half way confident about, and the other 4 I pretty much guessed.

Anyone have a similar experience and still pass??????

    FAR - 75
    AUD - 78
    BEC - 82
    REG - 77

Our value does not come from our skills and abilities, as good as they may be; it does not come from our GPA, our job, a promotion from that job to a better job, our success on the CPA exam, or anything of the like; but our value comes from the fact that we have a Creator who loves us, cares for us, and desires to help us navigate the rough waters of this life in a way that provides security, hope, and true, everlasting joy while we anticipate the life to come, with Him.

I'd say mine was similar. I flagged 5-6 each testlet. SIMS were ok. I got 2 research questions on mine which helped.

I got a 76. There is hope just don't expect anything other than passing by a thin margin.

    F AR - 76
    B EC - 82
    A UD - 77 (lost credit)/Retake 2/25
    R EG - 80

Two research questions is a bad thing. That means one won't count, and all your other sims do count.

Just curious on where you took the test because you posted so early on the 29th. Did you have a really early test time?

So sorry about that Shanek – I hope you pass. I'm taking FAR @ 1:30 today. I'm actually hoping for a hard exam because it will make any curve in the scores larger, and from my college days, I typically performed better on hard exams than easier ones. Remember too that about 15% of the MCQ's are thrown out. I've received some pretty strange and hard MCQ's in Reg & Aud, and I tell myself “eh, do the best you can and pray these are not graded”.

My first time on FAR, I did great on the MCQs and whiffed it on the Sims. For the second time, I signed up for Gleim's FAR bank and did every sim available at least once. On some sims I did well, but on most of them I only scored at about 50%. And I was able to review about half of them before the day of the second test came. Once I was in the second test, I made sure to manage it so that I had 1.5 hours once I finished the three testlets, and then took a 10 minute bathroom break (includes checking out and back in). This left me with 1 hour 20 minutes to do the sims.

Even though I wasn't super confident on how I performed on the sims at the time, I was calm and comfortable and at least tried to use some sort of logic even if it was possible my logic was wrong. And the goal was to answer each sim. The end result was a score of 80, and I was rated ‘stronger' on the sims.

In short, I highly recommend getting that Gleim test bank and giving yourself plenty of time for the sims on test day.

    FAR - 80

First time ….This is what i did….. studied and try to do all the Questions in Wiley book , But that was a big mistake . Got 64.
Second time I changed my study style got 73… failed but closed…. (because i was week on SIMs only and comparable and strong on every thing.)

Third time 80. , Only focused on my week areas like installment sales , inventories, consolidation , fixed assets, bonds, leases . mostly all the JE .Also for Governmental and NFP, try to understand there F/S and I/S. And mostly all the sims in wiley book. If some are really weird i left them alone and read and look the answers. It gave me knowledge to handle sims on exam , which was my week area.
I try to do old and new questions and understand the concept behind every question. Instead of doing 100 question i did 25 each time and checked the answer why i was wrong . Then went back to text to that particular topic and read that area. Instead of going chapter wise i did it topic wise .Example leases first i did operating lease. then i did capital lease, once comfortable then moved to IFRS on the same topic.
I used Yeager, Wiley book and supplement with Roger. Try to change the review , try to hit your week areas . FAR is one of the difficultly exam of all. You are very close. All the best .

Hope and determination will lead to success.
