Big 4 Background Check

Is anyone familiar with the background process for any of the major firms? I am a current college senior and will be an intern this winter. This is my first real job so my work history isn’t that relevant or extensive. I worked as a tutor for a tutoring service, a hostess where I was paid under the table and as a unpaid summer intern. I am filling out the background form for the 3rd party service, I believe it’s called Verified Person, and am wondering if any of this will get my offer rescinded? I have references who can vouch for me for all of these positions, I’m very nervous as this is my first real job.

was a while back when i worked at big 4, but yes they did a background check, credit check, called my references for previous employers (a couple banks i worked at in college).

I had a misdemeanor on my record from the year prior while in college (fake ID use) and disclosed it up front to the HR lady doing my background check. this was all after I had interned for 6 months and had received an offer to join the firm the following year when i graduated (did internship my junior year). SHe laughed about it and said that she wasn't going to even ask me about it since it was such a minor thing compared to some of the other stuff she sees on peoples records.

The background check process is very rigorous. They will contact all or most of your former employers (they even approached my European employers). Not sure how any of your work experience would disqualify you from working for a big4. Getting paid under the table is shady but if you did your part (i.e. paid taxes on it) I don’t see that being a show stopper either. Other than that kudos to you for tutoring/having an internships, those look like positive things on anyone’s resume.
