I have purchased the AICPA ethics course on demand (https://www.aicpastore.com/AST/Main/CPA2BIZ_Primary/Ethics/PRDOVR~PC-732302/PC-732302.jsp). I thought I have made a bad choice because there was no book, just lots of videos and slides! After spent hours watching these videos and slides I took the exam and failed with 86% (total is 45 questions, all like case study). I think many of the questions are pretty tricky and I don’t know where to find the answers. Anyone in Maryland or other states passed the exam with the course on demand (not the one with book)? And any hints on passing the exam? I tried watch videos, google answers when taking the exam but still fail.

Hey I am also a MD candidate however I have not took the ethics part yet. I purchased the same one as you did from the AICPA without the book.

They give you 3 attempts at it. How long did it take you to view the videos and slide?

I will attempting it for my 1st time this weekend coming up. I'll post my experience/results.

I just took the ethics exam yesterday. You can download the slides that are pretty much the videos. In the bottom right hand corner, there are two links….one say “resources” and one says “course materials”. Don't quote me on the language, but anyway, click on the far right link (I think) and it will have pdf versions of everything in the course. The “course manual” is about 250 pages and is exactly what the course is in pdf format. All the way at the bottom of the pdf is the quiz that you will take…every single question. You can ctrl + f the entire quiz and have the answers written out before you actually click on the link to take the quiz. That's what I did and I scored a 91% on my first try without really going through the whole video simulations. I read through the pdf because it was a lot easier.

I hope this helps and makes sense. Let me know if it doesn't and I'll try to explain in more detail.

Can you take the ethics portion before you're finished the exams? I have one remaining but I need CPE for work and figured i'd kill two birds with one stone.

Is everyone required to do the ethics exam?

@drump87 I'm a little confused because continuing professional education (CPE) is required once you have passed all parts of the CPA exam and have become licensed. As far taking the ethics I wouldn't worry about it until I have passed all the exams because that is way harder than the ethics.

@DMX I depends on your state. Each state has different requirements to become licensed. Check with your state.

@patelhj1 I'm an auditor and my boss requires us to complete 40 hours of CPE every year regardless if we have the CPA license or not. Do you know if we are allowed to take the ethics portion in Maryland before we are finished the exams? I want to take it while i'm waiting for my final score and before the end of the year. I have read that the Ethics portion last two years. I obviously don't want to take it if it doesn't count towards the CPA and be required to take it again. Thanks in advance.
