BEC…here I come.

I’m experiencing multiple emotions/feeling right now and I have one hundred thoughts running through my mind. Any tips?

Be confident. Trust in the generous grading. I felt like it was a good size score “bump” for all the exams I have taken. (I was even surprised my failed AUD section was as high as it was)

If you see a question and you know you will never be able to answer it in a billion years, take an educated guess and move on. If you are on the edge about the question, and sorta remember the answer but are struggling to be able to recall it, flag the question and come back to it. It gives you extra time to let it simmer in your brain and you might think of a better answer after you see it again.

Do try and stick to an average of 90 seconds a MCQ question at the most.

Don't get fancy with your essays. use correct grammar, format it like a business letter, restate the keywords from the prompt as much as reasonably possible, at least come up with an answer that isn't 100% correct but is coherent, and you should get high marks for that section.

Practice writing your standardized intro and conclusion paragraphs for your WCs once or twice before you go to bed. It'll save you a lot of time during your exam. When you get to the WCs, type your intro and conclusion into the first one, then (if it will let you – I didn't actually do this) copy and paste into the other two. Go back to the first one, tweak your standard paragraphs as needed, then type the body of your answer. Simply having your intro and conclusion memorized will save you about 3-5 minutes, which can mean the difference between finishing on time or not.

@ABTX411, you studied for a day and got 90 in bec, for about 3 weeks and scored 97 in audit. Wow that is an amazing talent you got! I guess Reg is a piece of cookies for you. You are learning for month to score 99? Passing all four in less than 6 months? Amazing! I wonder who can break this record?

Thanks everyone for the well wishes and tidbits of information. I've been reading and doing some more mcqs today. However, I must admit…my brain feels like mush. I'm beginning to wonder if I should just relax for the remainder of the day. If I don't know it by now….wait…yep…I'm not sure I can cram anything else into this brain of mine.

@KGREEN37, I think your on the right track to relax the rest of the day. Maybe make a one page cheat sheet to study when you arrive at the testing center. Besides that, enjoy the ride tomorrow.

Make a mock cheat sheet prior to your exam…essentially get some grid paper and write down everything you think you might need that will help you (mnemonics and such)…use the 10 min you get prior to starting your exam to write this all down (watch the clock, cant stress that enough).

It's hard to tell if that comment was a genuine compliment, or an incredibly rude jab… let's assume it was the former.

I started studying on 1/9/16 for BEC, so I studied for 3.5 weeks, not 1 day. And yes, I studied for AUD for 25 days. FAR took a bit longer, ~7 weeks. I wish I had longer – I was only able to finish about 75% of the review materials due to some family complications. I've had 4 weeks to get through REG, and I'm completely burned out now.

The review program I'm enrolled in counts toward the final 6 credits that I needed to complete my master's degree, so I have to complete each section on a very specific timeline. All of my review materials have to be completed online by midnight tonight. I attend a review course for 3 hours in the middle of the day from 10 – 1 pm on Mondays and Wednesdays, and from 9 – 12 some Saturdays. Luckily my employer allows me to work from home before class, then go into the office after I'm done. I routinely have to stay late (i.e. I'm at my desk until 11 pm on nights when my daughter is with her dad) to get caught up on stuff that I fall behind on when I'm at school. All of my other MSA courses have been at night from 6:00 – 10:00 PM. I've worked for my company for 10 years, and I'm the controller now. It's a small firm, and we are all like family. The CPA license is something that my employer pushed me to get because it benefits them as well. In Texas, you have to attain the 150 hours BEFORE you qualify to sit for the exam. My bosses have seen me work my ass off to get through school as quickly as possible, so they've been relatively flexible with me the past few months. They want me to finish just as badly as I do. On Friday, I'll be graduating with an MSA with a perfect 4.0. As I've mentioned before in this forum, I'm a single mom, so the process has been especially stressful for me and my daughter. I made a promise to her that I'd be done before she finishes Kindergarten the first week of June. That was my motivation.

REG is actually the most difficult section for me because I haven't taken an individual tax or business law course since 2004 (when I was in undergrad). So no – this isn't easy for me. I don't think this process is easy for anyone.

While this format will not produce the most intriguing essays, it will capture everything you need for the computer scoring program. Be sure to use correct grammar, spelling, and syntax.

I used something like this and scored “stronger” (according to my diagnostic report) on my WCs:

Dear [insert name], (note that a salutation is only necessary if the WC is formatted as a letter instead of a memo)

Thank you for allowing me to assist with your inquiry regarding [restate the question]. When analyzing [Subject matter to be discussed], we must consider

Each topic should be its own paragraph. Begin each paragraph by giving a definition of each topic.

In conclusion, I recommend [summarize your findings above, preferably using more buzz words].

I appreciate the opportunity to assist you. Should you have any more questions as you review [subject matter] in greater detail, please do not hesitate to contact me.

I remember that guy, he said his master program or some sort of program trained and prepared him on the CPA material. So study for one day is not actually an accurate statement.
