Each time I thought I passed I passed and each time thought I failed I failed.

I know it happens but never to me.

Same thing with me. Was sure I passed FAR and BEC. Passed them. I felt AUD was more difficult than I could handle. Ordinarily I would think that's a fail but I fooled myself into following what people say about how “the worse you feel the better you did.” I actually fancied that because I was getting such hard questions I had a chance of scoring in the 90's. Nope. Not the case. Failed by 2 points.

I think the people who score really low get such easy questions that they feel they're doing well. And the people who score really high eventually get such tough material that it seems impossible but they've already scored enough points getting to that point. For someone like me in the 70's/80's range maybe it's a bit easier to tell how you did.

    BEC - 78 (August 2015)
    FAR - 80 (November 2015)
AUD - 73, 67. (Ok I gotta confess I was even more lazy this time around)
    REG - August 27th, 2016

    @Hound that's a very good explanation.

I definitely agree. First time I took AUD I knew I had failed yet everyone was trying to make it sound like I still had a decent chance..when deep down I knew I hadn't. Even for REG the first time I knew it would be close between 73-75 and I ended up getting a 74. I would have to agree with The Hound that being in the 70-80s range makes it easier to tell.

    AUD - 77
    BEC - 82
    FAR - 75
    REG - 81
    Illinois Certified Public Accountant 2016

    AUD - 69, 77
    REG - 74, 81
    FAR - 75!
    BEC - 71, 82

    IL candidate!

    Finally done (5/24/16)!! Yahooooooo!

I think what makes it tougher to gauge is the uncertainty around how the exam is graded. Sure, you may have a good idea as to what your raw score will be, but what about the difficulty of the questions and how your score is converted to your actual grade? BEC and REG I was 100% confident – I didn't even bother staying up late to get my score. AUD I felt like I had passed, but I finished the exam way early and had convinced myself I had missed something major. I also couldn't get a good feel as the difficulty of the questions. For FAR, my gut told me I had passed but I wasn't sure – mainly because it was such a blur and so much material. I also couldn't get a handle as to the difficulty of the questions.

    BEC - 88 8/29/15
    REG - 82 11/14/15
    AUD - 83 1/8/16
    FAR - 80 2/29/16
