Hi everyone,

So I am waiting on my score for FAR that should be released December 9th. Today I got an email from the Virginia Society of CPA’s congratualating me on passing the exam and offering me the free membership. So do they somehow get information from the AICPA of the persons who pass/will pass?

I mean not sure why they would send it if they didn't somehow know? I've never heard of it happening though. Very curious

Virginia Society of CPA's, the virginia board of accoutnancy, NASBA, AICPA. there's so many organizations. who knows? maybe something did get messed up, but that would be incredibly surprising. highly unlikely because VSCA is most likely a state society like the AICPA is national. its a non profit that you have to pay a fee to join. so how would they know that you passed before the board even knows? the VA board gives out the license, the VSCA is more a social club. is this a recruitment attempt? its very weird. keep us posted- congrats!

at least you got a positive email! better than getting an email saying “we regret to inform you that….” altho they would obv never send one like that.

I received a similar email yesterday saying “I wanted to take minute to write and congratulate you on passing the CPA Exam!”. I took my BEC exam on November 30th. I am waiting to get my score back on December 9th as well. If i pass this exam, it means that I am done with all four exams. I am so curious why they sent the email. I called VSCA to get more information and it took awhile for them to give me a response. They called me back and said they send those emails out if they see that you have passed an exam within the past year. That doesn't make any sense though because i have passed three other exams and have never received an email like that. I think they may have messed up. I guess i will find out next week!

The worst part is that it gave me the excitement of passing. also they worte “Members new to the CPA credential utilize our online community”.

Yes this is my last score. Torture. Anyone else in VA got this email that isnt waiting on their last exam?

I got the same email on Friday and I'm waiting on my last score for AUD. Here's to hoping we passed!

Also I should note I took AUD in the last window and didn't pass so I know they don't just send this email out when people took their last section. Trying really hard not to get my hopes up.

Given that everyone got them in December, it could be something they send out at the end of the year. However, if it turns out that one of you finds out you haven't passed (hope not, but if it happens), I think that one of you should gently let them know that such emails are torture! Even if you all pass, they should still wait till after the score notification date to send out their emails. Either way, best of luck to you all, and I'm posting here mostly so that I'll remember to come back and check this thread after score release to see what you all find out. 🙂

I really hope it means that I passed. That would be the best Xmas present ever to find out that i am finally done with all of the exams!
