I think we need one of these threads to balance the universe. Enough of these people who thought they failed and passed.

After my first FAR take, I knew I had failed. I knew it would be close, but just under the mark. Sure enough, I missed it by 3 points. 🙂
May 4, 2016 at 4:42 pm #774770TheHoundThatRidesParticipantHere's another discussion on it.
I gotta say I would agree. I knew the results of my 3 sections in the back of my mind.
BEC - 78 (August 2015)
FAR - 80 (November 2015)
AUD - 73, 67. (Ok I gotta confess I was even more lazy this time around)
REG - August 27th, 2016May 4, 2016 at 11:02 pm #774771confusedcandidateParticipantI took Audit in February during tax season. I knew I was underprepared, especially compared to how much I prepared for the other three exams, but I thought I gave myself a fighting chance to at least get a decent score. And who knows, maybe I'll get super lucky and get that magic 75!
Got a 55, lol. I ain't even mad, I just laughed when I saw it.
Weekends are meaningless to a CPA candidate
May 4, 2016 at 11:06 pm #774772YolongeParticipantI am sure I failed reg, but think have good shot at bec. So I told people in the office that If I pass reg (and bec) I will buy lunch. Such a safe bet if you ask me :p
After audit I thought I had a fair shot and did okay on mcq but awful on sim, but I actually got weak on mcq but comparable on sim (what?!) and ended up getting 74.

May 4, 2016 at 11:10 pm #774774Wanna_B_TXCPA2014ParticipantIn 7 prior attempts of a combination of FAR and AUD I never leave with a strong feeling either way. And the scores on my last 3 attempts FAR 67, FAR 73, AUD 73. I hate this effn test!
May 5, 2016 at 4:00 am #774775Jess774ParticipantI thought I failed BEC twice, and I did. First time a 70 and second time a 64. Ouch. I just took FAR yesterday. After I was done, I sat in the parking lot and cried. I felt defeated. BUT I'm starting to study for BEC round 3 tomorrow.
@CPA2021 Do you think that you failed an exam you've taken recently? I'm assuming you're getting your score tonight?

AUD - 8/25/16May 5, 2016 at 10:54 am #774776AnonymousInactiveHi Jess. Yes was getting score and yes, thought I might have failed. Passed in the mid-eighties – what a relief.
I think sticking to my time alloted forced me to pick an answer choice and move on when I would have preferred not to. So I walked out of the exam not feeling confident at all. Not like I bombed it, but I might have gotten the dreaded 74.
Have you concluded that it's true about doing MCQ's over lectures/book studying? Well, that's only true to a point I guess, maybe it's more accurate to say it's better to sit there with the book and figure out why you can't answer the question. I had somebody say to me (who hasn't taken the exam), that you just need to do hundreds of MCQ's. That implies that just doing the questions will be enough. It's not, just like studying the material isn't enough.
May 5, 2016 at 11:09 am #774777YolongeParticipantI have failed REG by getting 70. I swear I would get in the 60s but did surprisingly well. I am glad that I did not get any higher closing to pass but it is still in the 70s so I can somewhat keep my morale. Let's all stay positive 😀

May 5, 2016 at 12:15 pm #774779Texas MomParticipantFailed REG by 3 points. I knew it when i left the testing center, I didn't have the same feeling as when i passed FAR. And it also seemed like the questions were more detailed than what i had studied. Oh well, here goes again. My time is getting low and i definitely don't want to retake FAR so i'm going to move quick and pass this!!!

AUD - 8/25/16May 9, 2016 at 2:13 am #774781jcbcpaParticipantDaredevils33, that's pretty much how I felt about my first FAR attempt that I failed, except I was thinking my range was more like 68 to 73. In fact, I told my dad (who went with me to the testing center that day) that I feel like at best, I probably made a 73. Final result was a 73. When he found out, he brought up the fact that I had said that.
Thankfully, I crushed FAR the second time around with an 85. I felt a lot better than I did with my first attempt, but was still a little unsure and didn't want to jinx it (Looking back, I think I was just a little paranoid since it was my last section). Made an 85.
My first exam, AUD, I felt I should pass, but since it was my first exam, i was worried that maybe my feeling was off. Made an 85. With BEC, I felt decent, but not quite as good as AUD. Made an 83. My REG attempt felt similar to my BEC experience. Left feeling decent, but not as great as AUD. Made a 81.
So my experiences have pretty much fallen in line with my scores. I also find it amazing how there are some people who think they fail and then up passing with blazing scores in the 90's. I think most of these people just get themselves worked up over a few missed questions and blow it out of proportion. More power to them.
AUD - 85 (8/30/2015)

BEC - 83 (11/04/2015)
REG - 81 (11/30/2015)May 9, 2016 at 2:52 am #774782AnonymousInactiveI think the people who consistently get in the 90's have a lifetime of doing very well on tests. In those cases I find the “oh I thought I failed but I passed” claims pretty dubious and self-serving.
May 9, 2016 at 4:10 pm #774783ImmoKnightParticipantWhen I finished Auditing… I was sure I failed. I was damn positive that I bombed. I told everyone who would listen that I failed this test and there was no chance that I could've passed it. I expected in the 50 – 65 range. I was already planning on when I want to take the test again and then started reviewing the material before getting the test back.
As the days went on before I got the results, I started thinking maybe I could've gotten a 75. I didn't believe it were possible before then and so I dismissed that thought as wishful thinking.
The day of the results. I was bracing myself to see anywhere between a 50 – 65… and I doubt I will ever be as surprised and happy to be wrong in my entire life when I saw my result.
Also, just an FYI in regards to CPA2021 who said, “I think the people who consistently get in the 90's have a lifetime of doing very well on tests. In those cases I find the “oh I thought I failed but I passed” claims pretty dubious and self-serving. “
I tend to do fairly well at tests when I study, but I felt like I failed. It wasn't dubious or self-serving. The test has a way of making you feel so stupid regardless of how you did in life prior to taking it.
