Hello, Fellow CPA Candidates!

Well, needless to say it’s been an interesting week. On Tuesday, the day after I took Audit, life decided to throw me a curveball. My husband was laid off from his job. Instead of getting upset about it, we’re taking it as a blessing.

With me taking these exams and both of us working so far away from home (I drive 45 minutes one way to work, and he drove 1 & ½ hour the total opposite direction), we were passing each other everyday.

By the time he arrived home from work, the girls were already bathed and getting ready for bed. While he’s unwinding from a long day, I’m locked in our room studying.

Now things are a bit different. When I come home, dinner’s pretty much ready. After dinner one of us gets the girls ready for baths, while the other cleans up from dinner. Then before it’s time for the girls to go to bed, my husband tells me “You go study and I’ll take care of the rest.”

Like any marriage, we do things as a team. We are trying to conquer this CPA Exam together.

Well, since I’ve had more time to study this week I’ve been really putting Jeff’s E-L-L (Early – Lunch – Late) plan to work. I’ve been waking up at 5am and either listening to Roger CPA Review on FAR or rewriting Jeff’s NINJA notes for REG. I’m either doing MCQs on Wiley’s Test Bank or rewriting Jeff’s NINJA notes.

Then in the evening, I watch more of Roger’s lectures. I’m really enjoying Roger. He makes it entertaining, as much as the material can be entertaining.

With me preparing to take both exams in the next month and a half, it’s been a juggle. So far I’ve completed FAR 1 with Roger and worked on MCQs on Wiley for REG along with Becker. Right now that schedule seems to be working but I’m assuming as Aug 9th comes closer, I’ll probably be spending more time with REG than FAR.

Well I better get back to Roger (my nightly affair, as my husband calls him), then bed.

Till next week!!

My husband has been out of work for 2 years, so I understand the pressure you must feel now on top of the exam. Like you say, it is teamwork and having him home more gives me more time to focus on the exam. I truly believe everything happens for a reason. Hopefully we will all come out shining from this experience. :)
