CPA Exam Motivation Needed

I feel like fellow Club 75 Blogger Angie because last week just flew by me. Busy at work, studying every chance I got until something happened during the week. I lost my motivation a bit.

For about a day and a half I didn’t look at my CPA exam review book or MCQs. Maybe I just needed a little break? Or maybe it’s because I’ve been reviewing Business Law, and it’s starting to bore me in a way.

I’ve been using Jeff’s NINJA study guide and breaking it up piece by piece. After I rewrite out one piece then I go onto Wiley’s Test Bank and work on the MCQs. So far on each piece I was scoring between 70 and 75.

I know I need to score better to ensure I get a passing grade on E-Day, but I figured it’s not too bad, and on the last weekend before my exam I’ll do many, many, many more MCQs.

Then came Commercial Paper. I don’t know why, but I’m really having a hard time with this one. Maybe it’s because I think who in the real world, would take a check and negotiate it with someone else? Who in turn negotiates it with another person, and another person, then another person. Why wouldn’t you just take the check and deposit it into your checking or savings account?

Anyways, I think I’ll be spending a lot of time reviewing Commercial Paper until I’m certain I know the real defences, personal defences, contractual liability, etc.

I feel I’ve fallen a little behind with FAR and Roger CPA Review. Maybe that’s my problem with REG. Roger has been keeping me entertained with FAR and with REG I’m reading and rereading the same material, which can be boring. My plan is to watch FAR 3 and 4 along with doing insane MCQs for REG after I’m done rewriting Jeff’s NINJA notes.

I have to keep telling myself I have less than a month to finish this up. Then I’m off camping with the family the day after my FAR exam, where I can go swimming, biking, read a book, not CPA material, and just relax with the most supportive husband I could have ever asked for and our girls.

Till Next Week!

Happy Studying!!

JoMarie

Grr, I feel your pain. Last week was a tough one for me, and I had to push my exam back a week because I may be going to Denver for work on the 10th-15th! So frustrating.

I'm about to start on Commercial Paper now. It seems archaic to me.

I agree Allyson!! I wish I can push my exam back a week, Angie, but then it'll get in the way of my FAR review for the 29th.

JoMarie, in May I sat for two exams hoping not to lose BEC- I wound up with a 70 & 72 AND lost BEC. If I could do it over, I would probably have concentrated on just one (knowing that I would lose BEC) but at least come out of that window passing an exam and having 2 credits (I still have FAR!). Perhaps take a sample exam in the software and then just concentrate working MCQs on your weak spots.
