Kim is a weekly Another71 Facebook blogger as she documents her journey through the CPA Exam.

Long walks have been the order of the day recently. Afternoon walks help to relieve some of the pre-score release stress, and my new tennis shoes have several miles on them already.

Usually by the time I hit the pavement, I’ve already dealt with a flashback that day from the grueling REG Sims in August. Like all of you, I’m doing my best to stay focused on my studies all the while knowing that next week is the big week.

I’m trying to keep it all in perspective, but I know that my pride is riding on next week’s grade. My husband will be returning from a year long deployment in about six weeks, and I want to have something to show for how I spent my time during the deployment.

I learned that I had passed BEC shortly after he left last year and vigorously set out to pass as many of the remaining three parts as possible before he returned. Even though I knew the new 2011 format was supposed to be more rigorous, I still felt like it was an achievable goal.

As fate would have it, I’ve spent ten months studying and trying to pass REG. I haven’t resented the sacrifices, although a trip to the beach sure would have been nice! I am just hopeful that I can say that it’s all been worth it next week.

As is with all military families who experience deployments, there’s a whole lot of change on the horizon at my house for the remainder of this year! A little nagging voice keeps asking me how I’ll be able to keep a study schedule while all of the change is going on. I have a huge investment of time already in becoming a CPA… so I just have to have faith that somehow, some way, it will all work out.

In the meantime I’m keeping my walking shoes by the door at all times in case we need to spend some time together!

The BEST of luck to each one of you next week.

Kim
