Expiration dates versus date of the exam?

Here in Mass., my REG exam is set to expire on 5/31. I have to pass AUD and FAR before then. I’m taking FAR on 5/1 and then hope to take AUD at the end of the month (CRAM for 4 weeks!)

Can I take AUD on 5/31? The date my REG expires? Or do I have to take my 4th exam BEFORE the expiration date (meaning by midnight 5/30)?

I’m just looking to maximize my time over Memorial day weekend to study. By cramming all day Sat & Sun I’m hoping it will help.

I have the feeling I can take AUD on 5/31 but I’d rather be safe than sorry!

That sounds like a question for your state board. Personally, I would go with the 30th just to be safe regardless of what the state board says.

Unfortunately I second the post above. Try to book now and get an exam as late as possible on the 30th – like at 4:30pm if possible.

To be honest with you I would be highly shocked if you could even take the test on the 31st since it's Memorial Day. And I don't know how many states let you sit on a Sunday but I know mine does not. I'd say you'll be taking it on the 28th or 29th.

    FAR: 81 (1/20) AUD: 88 (2/27) REG: 91 (4/19) BEC: 75 (5/20)

stick with the safe 5/30; good luck and may the Accounting Gods grant you safe passage into the world of CPAhood

I would call your state board. My FAR expires on 4/17/10. I called my BOA (I am in CA) and they told me that I can sit for my last test on 4/17/10 and, assuming I pass, I would not lose the FAR credit.

    My personal take:

No one here wants to trust a person's word when we call state boards, NASBA, etc, and we're anxiously awaiting our scores and they give us the runaround. They'll tell us that they haven't received them yet, that they won't get them for a few weeks, that they don't know, etc. But if you call about this issue and they tell you that you can take it on 5/31, why would you believe them? What if they're wrong – are you going to say “well the guy I talked to said it would be fine”

Honestly, I would need to see in writing, perhaps maybe somewhere on your state board's website. If not, I would go 5/30.

All good points. Thank you. I emailed the MA board yesterday. That way I can get their response in writing.

My quandry is that 5/30 is a Sunday and no Prometrics around here have that availability. So if I take the exam on Saturday 5/29, I lose out on being able to cram for two days (Sat & Sun.) When working full time those extra 6-8 hours each day make a difference……..coming from a guy who's gotten a 74 on my last TWO exams 🙁

I'll let this forum know once I find out. Thanks

GOT AN ANSWER FOLKS! If you have a date that an exam is set to expire, you must take your exam ON OR BEFORE that date (which makes sense.) The amail I received is below.. So my REG is set to expire on 5/31 and I just booked my AUD exam for 5/31. This one's gonna be close 🙂

    Mark:

You can test on or before that end date.

I must say I'm surprised your testing center is open on Memorial Day. Good luck to you.
