Missed Audit again by 1 competency point. I think I'm going to stop for a while. I am tired and suffering from mommy guilt and a sinus issue that I can't seem to get rid of. I have spent so much money and can't afford to keep paying for exams without taking on new clients. At that point, I likely won't have time to study.
My accounting practice has wonderful income potential(I do well right now) because of the niche but I wanted the CPA license to make pulling in more business a lot easier. In reality, I don't need the license because I have 20+ years of experience doing what I do. I really need to rethink this path. I wanna cry so bad because I just don't know what to do right now. My FAR score is due back on the night of 8/24 and depending on what that score is, it will make my decision for me.
Congrats to those who have been able to do this.August 6, 2020 at 9:21 pm #3069084chrissyParticipant
Got a 73 on REG.I am depressed.August 6, 2020 at 10:01 pm #3069147
@fsugirl you have had quite a year don’t let this exam make you rethink everything. Take a break, with some rest, you will bounce back. You sound like someone who doesn’t take defeat lying down. Hug your kids, love yourself, and come back fighting. You’ve got this!
@chrissy, I hate it for you. This year sucks. Shake it off and go for it. Positive self-talk matters. Be kind to yourself then go get it!August 6, 2020 at 10:07 pm #3069172CPAHOPEParticipant
To all those who passed, big Congratulations! I know how it feels on both sides of spectrum. It feels like crap when you fail but keep going and do it better next time. You MUST do things differently to pass next time!August 6, 2020 at 10:08 pm #3069176fsugirl2005Participant
You are absolutely right! I have never been one to just throw in the towel and give up. I just did some thinking and regrouping. I'm just going to push my tests back out to December to allow myself to really focus. My child has been home and it has been really difficult to study. He goes back to school in two weeks so I will use that alone time to study in silence. If I have to take on a client, I'll just have to do that. I'll make it work but I want to pass this test! This has been my dream since I was 14 and I am slightly over 40 so I'm no spring chicken…lol.
Thanks for your encouragement. It is really needed right now.August 6, 2020 at 10:52 pm #3069201
@fsugirl compared to me you are a spring chicken. I am three days older than dirt and I am lying about that. A good break is what you need – keep in mind changes are coming to the licensing process so make sure your delay doesn’t screw your eligibility. Take care of you and the family.August 6, 2020 at 11:01 pm #3069219
@inseraccountingpunhere congrats on REG! How many more for you?August 6, 2020 at 11:11 pm #3069234
To those who didn’t pass – the exam you didn’t pass is history. Let it go and move forward. Don’t beat yourself up – positive self-talk matters. Do your daily affirmations. Everyone of you is hard working and smart and have your entire life ahead. Embrace what your future holds. I loved studying, braced myself for each exam, and sweated the waits for scores but I would do it again in a second. I learned so much about accounting, myself, and what the world expects of me in order to succeed at this.

So I guess the CPA exams are hard. Who knew? Congratulations to all who passed. It is a sweet victory and truly well-deserved for I am quickly realizing just how much work is required to pass these. I just found out I failed AUD. I failed FAR when I took it for the first time back in December.
As disappointed as I am, I have been able to embrace this latest failure and feel even more determined to pass the next time around. Most of all, I am grateful for having been given the opportunity to show my son the importance (and even excitement) of dusting oneself off and getting back on the horse. I am happy that I get to show him that not getting it right the first time is ok, and need not be something that gets us down. Obviously being sad and upset is a totally normal and perfectly fine response. But today he got to give me a big hug and kiss and see that his Mommy was not giving up; that she would try even harder to do better and had full confidence that she would eventually succeed.
So, thank you 63 and thank you 68 for showing me and my son how bittersweet and lovely life's journey can be.August 6, 2020 at 11:23 pm #3069261limousine ridin’, jet flyin’ son of a gunParticipant
Congrats to all who passed. For those that didn't, I've been there…5 times. So keep going, take a week to clear your head if need be and get after it again.August 6, 2020 at 11:50 pm #3069291DieselParticipant

@Akriti – Yeah, they were much quicker the last two times I took the exams. I took BEC so trying to figure out if scores simply haven't been released yet or if I will be part of the “second wave”August 7, 2020 at 3:28 am #3069414RedButterflyGuest

Congrats to all those that passed! For those that did not, don't let it get to you. This exam is brutal but don't give up, you just need to dig deep and figure out what you need to do differently to get you to that 75.August 7, 2020 at 8:48 am #3069501OmieParticipant
Congrats to all those that passed !! There's no one more deserving of a passing grade then all of us in the trenches every day. To those, who didn't pass I know the sh*tty feeling of being down and feeling like giving up and second guessing yourself, but just know that you have thousands of us wishing for your success. WE GOT THIS !!!!August 7, 2020 at 9:53 am #3069567
@AndreA I can’t tell if you posted a BEC score but if the 74 is your score from this release I am so sorry. I hated BEC with a passion. I had to study for 12 weeks because none of the material was presented with enough depth to let me grasp without that much repetition. It was my lowest score after all that studying. Mile wide, inch deep as they say. I feel for you but don’t rush your next retake. Go back through everything. Did you have a calculator? Ask for one. If you are not using ninja mcq’s do the free trial and see if a month of access will help. You have to let this loss go and clear your head before you restart. Be nice to yourself and remember you can do this. Good luck!August 7, 2020 at 10:11 am #3069612Dood1234Guest
