Hey everyone! So my friend/coworker took her FAR exam this past Saturday and when she was on her 3rd simulation the calculator malfunctioned and it automatically shut her computer down. She is obviously very upset because she feels like she did awesome on the multiple choice questions and the sims up to that point, but the testing center wasn’t able to pull it back up and all NASBA is willing to do is letting her retake the exam for free. Has anyone else experienced an issue like this and got a more favorable response from NASBA like, we will grade your MCQ and give you 7 new sims or grade what she did up to that point (the prometric center said your data is saved after each question you answer) and let her know if she passed/failed so she can retake for free?

So I had this same problem happen to me! What I ended up doing was contacting NASBA and they mentioned that I needed to go home get a coin and if heads, they would release my score up to that point and if tails they told me to go to Cold Stones and get an ice cream cone and rethink my life. It came up tails and now I have recently contacted local celebrity Tim Tebow and he told me to pray and the answer would come. I did that night and the following morning I saw an e-mail from the AICPA that they were going to accept my score up to that point and let me retake the sims.

AHAHAHAHAHAHA, we are both at our client's office doing fieldwork and are literally laughing out loud! Can she get your contact info so she can find out exactly what steps you took or how you got them to give you a more favorable outcome? I'm a moderator and can delete your contact info as soon as you post so that you don't get any crazy spammers etc. Thank you!!!

ANNNNND we just found out that BroncosCPA is actually one of our coworkers who is sitting less than 2 feet away from us. How cruel! Yet funny. Please feel free to call him non-stop 🙂 Does anyone else have a legit response to my initial question? Thanks soooo much!!

I would suggest scheduling an appointment @ NASBA.org to retake it…sad but true..just my 3 cents.

That is something I worried about each time I took a test because the prometric computers look like they're on their last leg LOL!

My calculator locked up while taking Regulation. Really sucked that I had to do calculations by hand. Also, going to the next problem took a long time. Pissed off big time. I thankfully still passed. I was able to answer everything, but no time to check my answers. I didn't think I could change computers. The prometric center lady told me I should have told her and they would have moved me to another computer. Oh well.

So the same thing happened to me during one of my many tries at AUD ! I can imagine how unnerving this is for you

    – during my last simulation question the computer shut down RANDOMLY – I called the prometric lady she restarted the computer and the screen came back to where I had left off – I somehow finished my exam and submitted it –– After that she made a note of a formal complaint of the computer malfunctioning and gave the prometric number to call , I also emailed candidate care at NASBA and they wrote back to me saying that they had received my exam with all parts answered and submitted so it was ok . I would highy recommend getting in touch with candidate care at NASBA
