Sorry I posted in wrong forum.

Am planning to apply for NTS and when reading through the guidelines found this:

The Notice to Schedule (NTS) is valid for one testing event or six (6) months whichever is first exhausted for each examination section.

Am confused.Does this mean to say that in one NTS if I have decided to take BEC and then cant pass, can i take the same BEC again in the 6 mons window or should i apply for another NTS for that.

    And one more question:

Two months out of the six months will be blackout testing months.

What does this mean. Please help in getting a clear understanding before I start off.

You'll need a new NTS if you need to retake any section. You could put all four tests on one NTS though.

March, June, September, and December are black out/score release/no testing months.

The six month NTS thing means that the NTS expires after six months so you need to register to take the exam before your six months are up. Also I would recommend getting more than one NTS at a time. It saves you some money and it forces you to hunker down and study for the sections you have coming up.

For every exam you take you need an NTS. So if you fail say BEC you'll need to apply for a new NTS. Once you get your very first NTS, they grant you any new ones within a few days.

Your NTS allows you to select which sections of the CPA exam you would like to take. You can sign up for just one section or all of them.

You must sit for all the sections on your NTS within the 6 month window. You'll see on the NTS something like “BEC: first day to sit for the exam, last date to sit for the exam” and it will always six months between the first date and the last date.

If you don't plan on sitting for all four sections within 6 months, then you could use more than one NTS. You reapply for the exam again, pay a reapplication fee, and they send you a new NTS to select the remaining sections. The new NTS is also good for only six months, and it can overlap the original NTS if you want. Often times you will have two or more NTS “open” with different sections on each one.

The other thing to keep in mind is that you must pay for all sections selected on the NTS. So if you arent prepared to pay for all four sections right now, then dont sign up for all four on the NTS.

The blackout months are the months that you cannot schedule an exam. There are included in your 6 month window for the NTS,

Just a tip you may want to take something like FAR first, just because a lot of changes to the standards often occur in FAR. The REG tax law doesn't change the material very radically.

I took FAR first and there were some sections of becker where three or four pages were changed. Also when I took FAR and then AUD it really helped me because there was some FAR on the audit exam. Just my two cents

I already bought REG materials and have read about half the material:-( So what i do now.If i stop that now all this time i put into it will all go waste.
