Anyone have luck calling the board and having them expedite the process?
I'm starting the new job search process soon and want my resume to have CPA at the end of my name instead of “license pending”.January 27, 2020 at 2:57 pm #2904867ReckedParticipant
Not much luck unfortunately.

Can anyone tell me if cpa's in nyc have to submit to fingerprint background checks? Similar to what they do in Texas and california. ThanksJanuary 28, 2020 at 2:04 am #2905671grimreaper11368Participant

How is everyone finding out that their application was approved and sent to processing? I reached out to someone in the office, who told me that my application was forwarded to the board on 12/27/19 and that the process is taking approximately 3 months (they actually lost some of my paperwork when I initially applied for licensure in September, which I discovered upon follow up about two months later). Do you actually receive some form of notice of approval (email, letter, etc.) or are you just reaching out regularly on the status?March 19, 2020 at 11:09 am #2965100
I've been submitting requests for updates. I try to wait at least a 3 weeks or so before requests so I'm not overloading them too much but I'm so anxious to get my license. I found out that I was missing a few hours so I sent them another transcript last week. I was hoping I got an approval this week!March 20, 2020 at 10:48 am #2965775
It seems that COVID-19 is putting some significant delays on the issuance of licenses. None have been posted to the website in 2 days. We’ll just have to hang tight…March 23, 2020 at 4:52 pm #2967668
I called on Friday since i submitted my application and had a few questions – they said most of their office are closed so not to worry about anything at the moment since it won't get processed.
It's going to be a long wait here in NY.March 23, 2020 at 5:26 pm #2967683TncincyParticipant
We understand your anxiety, but everything is so up in the air and so indefinite until you have no choice but to wait. Congrats on being done. 🙂March 24, 2020 at 11:21 am #2968184
It looks like they are processing applications still. I see there are several new CPA licenses that were posted on the website todayMarch 24, 2020 at 3:02 pm #2968373
Tigeracct is correct, licenses are now being processed again. I followed up today and received notice that my application was (finally) approved by the board. So, the total time from when my application was forwarded to the board to when it was approved was almost exactly 3 months (forwarded 12/27/19 & approved 3/24/20). Hoping to see it posted to the website soon so I can finally put those 3 letters after my name! Good luck everyone!March 25, 2020 at 1:15 pm #2968916
@schwalek DId you call or use the website to request an update?March 25, 2020 at 11:22 pm #2969225
All of my correspondence has been via email. The contact is OPUNIT3@nysed.gov. The woman I have been dealing with has been extremely helpful and responds quickly. Be sure to provide your full name, DOB, and last 4 of your SSN for them to pull your file as easily as possible.April 11, 2020 at 5:26 am #2978915fozman422Participant

Even during this pandemic, NYS is still giving out licenses. It took a long time, but I can finally call myself a CPA!!!!April 23, 2020 at 12:17 pm #2985614
Thanks for sharing your progress!
Good to hear licenses are still being issued.
Question: once the board approves you, do you get an automatic email, notifying you that you have been approved?
Also- what are the chances that they will kick your application back when it’s already with Board? Is it safe to assume that my education is OK once it is sent to the Board?April 24, 2020 at 5:57 am #2986061fozman422Participant
No. They didn't send anything. I had to go through the contact us site on the new york state office of professions. This is the link: http://www.op.nysed.gov/contact.htm
They respond very quickly the times i asked.
I was in constant fear that for some reason they would kick my application back. Honestly, I'm not sure what the chances are. I have not heard any instances from people I know. No news is good news from the board. Good luck.April 25, 2020 at 2:43 pm #2986862
I just randomly checked CPA verify (after considering emailing for status update) – and my name popped up! Two weeks ahead of the estimated 3-month wait time.

Hi all, NYSED forwarded my application to the CPA Board on 3/3/20. Does this mean all my documents were good and satisify the CPA requirements already? or the Board has to review for the qualification?
Thanks very muchMay 27, 2020 at 3:27 pm #3011343

Can someone please explain to me the overall end to end process for how they went about having their University fill in form 2 (i.e., the registrar). I have to fill out form 2 for four separate schools, so I would like to get this right the first go around (especially if I need to instruct someone). Most universities appear to be using 3rd parties for transcript requests, so I am curious how this works.
Thank you and really appreciate any responses!September 25, 2020 at 10:00 am #3112598JFKGYParticipant
Have all of your educational institutions submit Form 2 and your transcripts to the State Education Department only if:
you received your post-secondary education in whole or in part from outside the United States, or
you have already passed the Uniform CPA Examination, either in New York or in another jurisdiction.
You sure you need to fill out Form 2? If you were outside of the country or took the CPA exam outside of NY?
If you were in NY, you don't have to do Form 2 at all. Go to NASBA instead.
If you absolutely need to do Form 2, and you or somebody is able to physically get to the school, go to the transcript office with the form, and they will take in your request. If you cannot make it to the school, request transcript online as it is, in the process there will be an option call “add paper and mail with transcript” as well as a bunch of option. Fill out part 1, upload it, and call your school's transcript office. They will be able to assist you. The school download and print the stuff off the system and put it in the mail anyway. You just got to make sure you call before they mail out your thing.October 2, 2020 at 7:41 pm #3118731JFKGYParticipant
Has anyone heard from the board recently or know the timeframe?
I submitted my application a month ago, requested confirmation from the online contact me 2 weeks ago, just to confirm they received it, no response. (I mailed in my application.)
Does it usually take that long to response to an e-mail?
