As everyone is experiencing, I just got the official email confirming Prometric closure until May 1. Strange that I got my exam cancellation email before this one came out haha.
Would be nice if NASBA or whomever can give us some sort of extension, even a couple weeks.April 10, 2020 at 5:15 pm #2978660
Are you trying to reschedule? I tried just now to reschedule it in May but it seems like they wouldn't let us even though there's availability. You know how when you select the date and time, then you click the next arrow on the bottom right of the page to confirm, this time, that arrow turns to an “X”. It's weird.April 10, 2020 at 5:26 pm #2978672
I'm putting a May 1 – 15 date range to reschedule but my prometric isn't even showing up to attempt to select a date. Weird!!April 10, 2020 at 5:56 pm #2978687
My usual testing center does not show up when I try to reschedule. I rescheduled AUD for May 9 at a different testing center, one of the remaining few that pop up when I try to schedule.April 10, 2020 at 6:12 pm #2978702AndreAParticipant
They have to give us a credit extension. https://www.prometric.com/corona-virus-update. I live in LA and I can't get my NTS at least until May 15, which means most likely I won't be able to take BEC and REG in Q2… https://www.cnbc.com/2020/04/10/coronavirus-live-updates-us-cases-top-466000-trump-calls-for-more-small-business-funding.htmlApril 10, 2020 at 6:32 pm #2978720
Lets hope they give us credit extension. They will have to if this goes beyond April.April 10, 2020 at 10:43 pm #2978837tmac87Participant
I managed to reschedule both BEC and AUD at my local center, for 5/15 and 5/31, respectively. Assuming they stick to the 5/1 opening, I'll have a built in 2 week buffer to work out the kinks. Hope you guys can get scheduled soon.April 10, 2020 at 11:32 pm #2978849
@AndreA It seems like the stay-at-home extension isn't affecting all testing centers in LA which is interesting. This also means it's not likely we'll get credit extensions so long as there are testing centers within our vicinity that are still open, even if they aren't our preferences.April 11, 2020 at 12:14 am #2978864AndreAParticipant
I'm gonna ask CBA, I'll let you know what they said. I guess you're right, but I can't schedule my exam without NTS.April 11, 2020 at 11:14 am #2978990
@Animalwithin I think the prometric website isn't up to date based on their own notice of offices being closed until May 1. Even though I got the cancellation email about my April 17 exam being cancelled and Prometric's website indicating all US centers are being closed, my same testing center is showing availability for April 20. WTH?! Another testing center that's over 100 miles away is showing availability starting April 17. I'll be curious if anyone is able to test, not just schedule a test, but actually test between April 17-30.April 11, 2020 at 1:13 pm #2979056
@AndreA definitely keep me posted, thank you.
@PDiddy2000 I believe you are correct, they're all over the place and anything but consistent. I too am very curious if anyone is able to test throughout the rest of this month. If stay-at-home has been extended to the 15th of May (at least here in LA), then why are some testing locations closed while others are still open?April 11, 2020 at 5:45 pm #2979221
@Tmac87 Did you use the same NTS number for the exam just got canceled by Prometric? When I input my old NTS, it said number not recognized. Do I have to ask for a new NTS?April 11, 2020 at 6:32 pm #2979242
@TNTTN You should be able to use the same NTS from the exam that got cancelled. I used mine with no problem to reschedule (albeit at a different testing center).April 11, 2020 at 11:55 pm #2979434
i'm on the exact same boat.
i mailed application with check for fee to CBA directly for my BEC retake
and got no response to this and suddenly CBA wanted people to mail to different address.
so I mailed again immediately (with USPS certified) which was about a week later
and again, i have no response until today.
for sure, they received my mail since USPS tracking says “an agent received it”
but it seems they are unable to process now until to resume.
of course, contacted CBA and explained my situation that my FAR credit is expiring soon
and I don't even have a chance to take MY LASSSTTTTT exam before credit expiration.
what they told me was “if you have currently open NTS, you will have credit extension.”
BUT YOU SEE, I DO NOT HAVE CURRENTLY OPEN NTS BECAUSE YOU ARE NOT ABLE TO PROCESS MY NTS APPLICAION!!!!!!!!!!!
any advise, guys? hah….April 12, 2020 at 1:22 pm #2979632
@Asdf that's a horrible situation to be in and I'm sure more people will find themselves in the same boat as you. At this point, other than persisting with contacting NASBA/CBA, it's a waiting game.April 18, 2020 at 1:53 am #2982578
So, I need clarification of the CPA credits being extended through 90 days or September 30th.
I had my April 21st 4th and final exam set. Then it was cancelled. But my REG expires on April 23rd. The earliest available testing date was July 29th, which I snagged. Does this mean my REG will be expired on July 23rd (90 days from my April 23rd expiration date) or is the credit extended 90 days from June? So I am still ok with my test date on July 29th and not have my REG credit expired? I hope this makes sense.April 18, 2020 at 1:22 pm #2982704
Is the credit extension (not NTS) of passed sections being extended 90 days from its expiration date or through Sept 30 no matter if the credit expires In April May or June??April 18, 2020 at 1:35 pm #2982710
@Kach. Things are continually being updated but as of now NASBA will extend all NTSs expiring between April 1 – June 30, 2020, until September 30, 2020. I haven't seen a blanket extension of exam credits yet. The last thing I've seen about handling issues such as yours is to contact your state board of accountancy.April 18, 2020 at 3:14 pm #2982827
@PDiddy2000: I did contact them and they responded back with this:
“CPA Exam Credit Extensions:
CPA Exam candidates with one or more CPA Exam credits that will expire on or before June 30, 2020, will be granted a 90-day extension of the credit(s) through September 30, 2020”.
How do you interpret that? My April 23rd credit expiration extended through until September or 90 days passed April 23?April 18, 2020 at 4:57 pm #2982908
@Kach I interpret that as saying 90 days passed April 23 so your REG expiration will be in July now.April 19, 2020 at 9:48 am #2983313
Problem solved. I was just able to reschedule on May 30th. Hopefully that date stays open.
ThanksApril 19, 2020 at 1:57 pm #2983424
@Kach Awesome! Having a date to study for is much easier than open-ended studying, IMHO. My current retest date is May 9, I'm crossing my fingers that it doesn't change.April 19, 2020 at 3:38 pm #2983508se7en.14Participant
Does anyone know what's going with NYC testing centers?
there seems to be no slots at all for REG until July, there's a few in beginning of May, but that's it. (I do have mine booked for May 4, but the shelter-in is extended to May 15..so I think it will be cancelled.April 27, 2020 at 5:36 pm #2988170
Finally i was able to receive NTS and to schedule for May!April 27, 2020 at 5:47 pm #2988182
I received an email a few days ago saying Prometric is open as of May 1 but there is a whole other thread going on about how they're closed through May 31. What's going on?
I'm scheduled for May 9.April 27, 2020 at 5:54 pm #2988188
i know, i saw the thread, too
but it seems prometric will remain to open for CPA exam b/c it falls under “essential business” (i think i saw this from the same thread) ?!April 27, 2020 at 6:08 pm #2988206
@Asdf I would assume there are dozens of exams that fall within the “essential business” category.May 7, 2020 at 4:27 pm #2996802Jen PParticipant
Only certain testing centers are open in May. You MUST check their list of open centers… my exam on May 30th was not cancelled (in fact I confirmed it online) but the testing center is NOT on the list of open centers, and I called and its closed until June 1, 2020. DO NOT trust that your appointment confirmation is real unless its on the listed testing centers… further there are 0 openings within a 200 mile radius in June and July for me (Western PA)May 7, 2020 at 4:57 pm #2996859CH89Participant
@Jen P – That's crazy! I'm in Pa too, but on the eastern side. Thankfully, as of now, the testing center is scheduled to open just in time for me to sit for my exam. I'm pretty sure that most of those centers fall in the “red zone,” I find it ridiculous how there is not much listed open on that side of the state. I would suggest to keep checking daily, and hope that something comes up. I've noticed that the dates for some testing centers to open up have changed too, went from 5/18 to 5/15.
