Advice – BEC Retake

    Hi guys!

Quick vent session. I got my score back this morning for BEC…72…HOW?! Trending a 93, practice exam was 96,88,96 on the teslets. I did run out of time and was only able to do one of the three writing prompts. I felt really comfortable on the multiple choice so my thoughts are they might’ve kept the two prompts I wasn’t able to get to and thrown out the one I did. But it’s over. Lesson learned. Time management is critical.

Do you guys have any advice (and sorry if this is a thread somewhere else) on approaches to studying after you’ve failed? I would like to take the exam before March 10th. It’ll be difficult studying with busy season in full swing, but before work and as much as I can on the weekends could work. I know multiple choice are crucial, but any other ideas, tips, or tricks?

    Thanks guys!

Brady, which study material did you use? I passed with Becker and never trend higher than 70% that's why I'm thinking maybe the study material you're using is not sufficient.

    AUD - 87
    BEC - 77
    FAR - 75
    REG - 82

You can only take an exam one time per quarter, so you'll have to plan on taking it in April at the earliest. I'm in the same boat as you 🙁

    AUD - 77
    BEC - 86
    FAR - 75
    REG - 77
No need to worry, my accountant handles that.

Wow! I totally forgot that I could only take it once a testing quarter. I just sent back in for another NTS. What a day this is shaping up to be. Disregard this post, thanks guys!

You may not be able to take the BEC again this semester but do not give up. There will always be setbacks but if you stay loyal to this grind you will have your CPA. Don't lose faith in the hours you have already put into studying for this test.

    I totally agree!

    Your review course matters.

I scored a 69 on my Becker final exam 2 and cried as my exam was scheduled for the next day.

Ended up with 80+ on the actual exam.

Also, stay strong and do not worry! You will pass all these exams, you will become a CPA some day!

    Amen 🙂

Brady I'm sorry to hear you didn't pass. Hope you are ok and don't beat yourself up too bad.

It may be that the reason you didn't pass was not your material but simply like you said, time management. You were very close. Study it all over again and I think you will get it next time. But don't rush it purposely but while you are studying for the retake try to time yourself. Good luck! And take it easy today. You will pass it in time!
