    Has anyone passed BEC with (what they thought were) all medium testlets? I felt very prepared for the exam, but the first testlet was a little tricky.. then my next two felt much easier. Not sure how I feel about this! Maybe I just really knew the material well..

    Anyone else feel the same way and pass? I need hope!!

    Perhaps you knew it better than you thought… but yes I think this pretty much happened to me on my BEC retake- in fact by the third testlett the questions seemed so easy I was almost laughing in despair. My first testlett was brutal / tricky, my second one seemed much more straight forward and my third much easier than either of the other two. I walked out convinced I had failed… and was completely shocked when my score came out– Contrast this to my first time where I felt like each one got progressively harder and I actually DID fail…

    I honestly don't think that you ever really know until the scores are released. Good luck to you I really hope you passed!

    And they ask me why I drink

    Difficulty of testlets is really relative. What I might find difficult might be easy to you, and vice versa. I wouldn’t stress about it.

    How did you know they were “medium” difficulty? Did they say after you submitted your exam?

    I received all medium testlets on my BEC exam. The first testlet I thought was pretty difficult, but of course we all know the first testlet is always “medium”. The next two testlets were so easy…like 1+1=2 easy. I was actually starting to get angry it was so easy.

    I ended up being on the Bubble during thanksgiving and had to wait a week…but I got my 75. On the score report I was weaker in Multiple choice and comparable on written communication.

    Good luck, I hope this gave you hope, because I had none lol. I'm taking REG tomorrow let's hope luck is still on my side.

    @waffle-house: I took AUD and although there was no confirmation that I received MEDIUM testlets, I could tell that they didnt get easier after the first testlet. Thats the only way I could tell.

    The MCQs are so random that it's surprising that people are so focused on the teslet difficulty. You might be getting questions in topics you're stronger with or weaker with in other teslets. At least in my experience, it's not really a good indicator of how well you did.

    First one being hard is usually a bad sign because it's supposed to be a medium testlet. But like others have said, it is very random what your score will actually be. You truly never know with this exam, it's one of the oddest exams out there in terms of how you pass.

    On a side note, a lot of the reason people do well is because they get all the pre test questions wrong but the rest they do well in, so they end up passing.

    So I understand the process, when they release the scores later today/tommorrow, this score will be tnetative correct? But pretty much final since I understand its super duper rare it changes?

    @JesseD Yes the advisory score is pretty much the final score.

    Okay I'm going to ask the obvious question here…or maybe it's not so obvious – how do you tell if you got a medium or a hard testlet?? I really don't understand. Let's say your first testlet feels very hard. You get like half or less than half of the questions correct. Then, you get another testlet that feels a bit less hard, and another one that feels easier and by the end of it, you estimate that you perhaps got 70 percent of the questions correct and would've gotten perhaps 90 percent if it hadn't been for the wicked first testlet. Again, is there any way to tell if you got a medium or a hard one? Frankly I am glad the format for BEC is going to change. I'm a published author, and am really good at writing. I've bullshitted my way through many an exam just by writing things that were convincing, enough so that I convinced the reader of the test that I actually knew what I was talking about. Not that I'm particularly proud of this, but I hope I can do the same on the CPA exams. Although, I did hear that the computer auto-grades everything. I'm going to be taking BEC during the very first window of the new version of the exam and I'm suspecting they might have people reading the responses in addition to the computer reading them (if in fact that's true about the computer auto-grading) since it is going to be the first dry-run of the new format and they have to come up with what they feel is an acceptable standard for awarding the golden ‘seventy-five' mark of achievement. And, since it's a beta-test situation, they have to test out some of these wicked new questions that have never been asked before, to see how well people do on them. I hope a good number of us will luck out and get really good scores on the early versions of the new exam, since they don't have an ‘over-a-period-of-time' analysis or metrics or anything else to compare candidate performance with. IF in fact the exam is changing as much as they say it will.

    @crazyleon

    You'll never know if you got medium or hard testlets that is why it is useless to stress over it.

    What you might think is easy might be hard for someone else or you might be stronger in that subject than you think. Heck, you might get an easy question you never studied for and think it's hard.
