So this weekend I took a break , I went to Austin to visit my family , and told myself I won’t check my Audit score this weekend. But I couldn’t stop myself. This was my second attempt with 62 in last score.

I was in sea world watching shamu show but my itching finger couldn’t resist . As soon as I hit enter on my phone . I HAD 74! My eyes were wide open and my jaw dropped. I had such a sharp pain in my heart! WOW I never felt that pain in my entire study life.I dint want to spoil my family fun time, So I was quiet in the whole show. I was so blank , I felt like screaming and crying! I I was not able to see the entire whale show with my eyes wide open!

As soon as show finished , I told my husband. he hugged me and said he is proud of me that I still got 74 . those magic words eased my pain!

OH WELL ! Long story short I won’t give up! I am glad I came across this forum ! lots of people in this forum has inspired me !

I am strong likea brick , I won’t give up ! I will give my best shot in next audit exam!

audit is tricky. My first score was a 61 and my second was an 84. The key to passing this exam is reading the question slowly and reading each answer slowly. There are often 1 or 2 words that make an entire answer choice incorrect even though 99% of the rest is true. This is why they give you 4 hours because each answer choice must be contemplated.

for the SIMs, use the research tab extensively. The first and most obvious choice is often not the answer. A lot of the times, its the opposite of what you think it should be. You must take your time with audit.

    cool story bro

74s are rough I had two in my career. You just have to learn from you mistakes and go right back after the exam. For working people taking the exam the main key to sucess is rescheduling and doing all the work right over again. I am about half way through in a period coming close too a year. I feel like I have been dragged by a horse for a 100 miles. You have to have that “this exam is not going to beat me attitude”. Basically the way I look at it is if you don't finish this thing it will follow you like a black cloud the rest of your career. Jus tmy opinion.

While a 74 is probably the toughest score to handle, a positive you can take from this is that you improved your score by 12 points. That is a pretty significant increase and shouldn't go unnoticed.

I'm not sure what study material you are using, but with Becker, I went through the all the lectures and MCQs, and as a review process, I banged out numerous 100 question simulated exam quizzes. I kept doing them until I felt I could answer each question out of pure repetition. And while memorizing practice questions isn't going to make you automatically pass, I always felt that if I could ever get to the point of being able to just answer questions from pure memorization/repetition, then that means I have studied so much that the material is ingrained into my head.

Good luck and keep studying. You can make yet another 12 point increase and pass with flying colors.

    FAR: 87
    AUD: 86

The only thing you should see when you get a 74 is how close to a pass you are. Stay strong mentally, polish up your knowledge in all areas, and retake as soon as you can.

Aww that sucks. Sorry to hear that, but unfortunately there are always going to be people with a 74. I would request a regrade if I were you just to see what happens.

I thought I got a 95+ walking out of that exam. Ended up with a 81. Tricky indeed.

@goodlucktoeveryone: Thanks for advice , I think I was rushing inMCQ so that I can have enough time for SIMS, and I know I made few mistakes in MCQ, didn’t know that gona get me 74. Thank you for your advice .

@75letsgo:  yes When I walked out of my exam, I knew I made a few silly mistakes , I was like darn!! I hope those mistake don’t cost me.. My biggest mistake was rushing in MCQ to make sure I have enough time for SIMS.  thanks for encouragement- I wont give up!!!

@shiggity80: aww thank you ! I really tried my best to cram all the material, I think I over studied and those MCQ answers were so much in to my head that my brain automatically memorized it. I am gona take quiz from becker thist time,Rather then practicing them in same pattern. I think I learnt the answer rather then knowing it . As I was practicing in same pattern over and over. Thank you shiggity80. I wish you all the best for regulation . you are almost there , this is so inspirational!!

@ nearly_there : I was thinking to regrade it but it takes 1.5 months , I am planning to retake the examby end of this month! Lets see! Oh wow! I think I have to aim high now 90+ 😀 lol lol

@onmyway to cpa: awwww – I can feel tht pain. When are you taking it again, whats your study strategy this time? I am just gona do 200 mcq everyday from today onward. I wish you all the best for your exam

    Good luck to everyone

Yeah I'm pretty sure you must wait to take it again in the next window because otherwise you would have an unfair advantage and are likely to run into similar MCQ's and maybe even the same SIMs. Good luck!

    FAR 4/9/12- PASSED
    BEC 7/13/12- PASSED
    AUD 8/16/12- Ughhh 71, Rematch: 90!!!
    REG-12/6/12 PASSED

    USC MAcc- Fight on!

I have had a few close calls as well 🙁 its definitely a mood killer. I made a 74 on Audit in May and when I saw my score I sat and fumed for a few minutes and then just started laughing uncontrollably (I dont know why haha) but I used that for fuel in my 3 week study/review leading up to when I retook the exam in July; I found myself getting down at times when I would start thinking I should have been done with this part but I just kept feeding the flames with that thought and I passed it the second go around!! Just keep tellling yourself you can do it! I know if I can you can too!!

    AUD- 76
    BEC- 75
    FAR- 87
    REG- 78

just keep trying, i received a 74 and many other scores in the 70s and then eventually passed sometimes improving a lot just to get into the 70s and higher. you will figure out what it takes and everything will come together and start rolling.

    BEC 73, 71, 79 (1/3/12)
    AUD 48, 70 (1/31/12), 85 (4/9/12)
    REG 70, 61, 77 (2/29/12)
    FAR 42, 74 (5/29/12), 80 (7/16/12)
    Ethics - 98 (4/20/12)
    Officially a CPA (8/9/12)

I have faced the same issue with audit as you can see from my scores below. I recommend just moving on to another exam and coming back to audit later. After the first time I failed I went ahead and took BEC and passed. Tried audit two more times and still came up just a little bit short, so I moved on to REG and passed it as well. I have audit scheduled for the end of the month so hopefully I will get over the hump this time.
