I was doing my sims, for the most part i had the numbers and title of the accounts right, but the becker software marked it wrong because I did not have them in certain order in their respected accounts, meaning, for the operating expense account I would put blank in box 1 and in box 2, I would put rent expense and i would put another blank in box 3 and put another expense account in box 4, I was doing that the way because that how my brain was processing it as i was thinking and as I clicked on show i had the right accounts in the right box but not in order you guys showed it so it marked it wrong for me. My question is the AICPA going to be that technical for the sims ? I try to make my question as clear as possible, i hope you can understand my question, thank you!

kman21: I think it really is hard to know exactly how those exams are graded. But, I really doubt you'll encounter that issue. I say this because whenever I answer any sims on my software (Roger), I RARELY ever get any points at all because the software is extremely picky. I'm sure the AICPA has a sophisticated software that will be able to understand your answer and give you credit based on any part of the question you answered correctly.

Not sure what section you are studying for or if this is the first exam but DO NOT trust your review course to prepare you for the sims. I feel like the sims on review courses are fairly simple in comparison to the real thing. When I took my first section (FAR), I felt very confident going in because the sims in my review course were nothing out of this world and I could solve them in 10 minutes. When I saw my first sim, my jaw drop. Most of the problems on the actual exam can be pretty lengthy.

    AUD - 75
    BEC - 78
    FAR - 81
    REG - 92

Oh wow, so can you give any advice on how to prepare for the sims? For the real exam ? And thank you for your answer. I'm studying for FAR

For FAR, the biggest thing I would suggest in knowing your journal entry (t accounts) inside out.

I agree with Allegra, you really need to know your journal entries. Other than that, I can't really give you any advice because there is just so much info in FAR so it's hard to know what you'll be tested on.

Also, I know you've problably heard this before but make sure you leave plenty of time for the sims. And don't leave anything blank. If you ran out of time or don't know the answer, guess.

    what they all said.

I did think that the Becker sims prepared me fairly well for the exam. some on the exam were way out there, I mean orders of magnitude more difficult than the review course. Others were very similar to the review course.

    good luck

    BEC - 8/8/16
    REG - 66, 77
    AUD - 81
    FAR - 9/8/16
