I’ve passed three parts now except for FAR and it seems like the questions and simulations for FAR in Becker 2012 are RIDICULOUSLY hard… am I alone here? For anyone that took FAR using Becker, were the questions at all easier? They are all great questions but I feel like if I got similar questions that Becker gave it would have the hardest test ever administered, can anyone share their experience with me? I’ve been through the book twice and all of the problems once so I think I’m pretty prepared but these questions are freaking me out! I’m averaging right around a 75% immediately after reading through the material… thanks for your input!

I would agree, the questions that I had on the actual exam were a bit more complicated.

My advise would be to go through the MCQs at least twice. I wouldn't spend time on reading the material more than once. Focus on the questions and try understand why the answer is what it is.

I have FAR next week so haven't experienced it yet myself, but the general consensus among a lot of people here has been:

Exam MCQ are easier than Becker's

Exam Sims are harder than Becker's

Maybe someone who's taken it can back me up on that? Seems to be what I keep seeing though.

I will say that the real exam MC's are not necessarily easier than Becker some are just not as wordy. And as for as the SIMS, OMG. Hold on!!!

Thanks for the input guys, I feel like Becker's Simulations do a good job of explaining things that aren't done so well in the text… the acquisition method and cost/par value method ones were especially helpful. Not gonna lie, I'm also banking on the research question, 6.67% of the whole exam right there!!!

I'm not completely sure, but I think the research question is only worth 1 or at most 2 points. I don't think the SIMS are graded “per SIM” but “per answer”. When I did the Becker Final Exam I got 1 point for getting the research question correct. Now I know Becker doesn't grade the same (weighted questions and all), but I can't believe one research question would be weighted the same as an entire page of journal entries or other, more complicated SIMS.

I do agree that, overall, the MCQ's in Becker were more challenging (more complicated) than the real exam, but the SIMS were lengthier and more challenging on the exam than in Becker.

I agree with momto5. Exam SIMS are tougher, exam MC are easier.

@momto5: I did a little bit of research a while back and couldn't find anything (outside of people posting on blogs without referencing) that explicitly stated that the research simulation question was weighted differently. I guess I kind of assumed that it was weighted the same since nothing told me otherwise. This would make for a good post…

I honestly felt like the Sims on the actual exam were way harder and worded differently. I got saved by the mcq because they werent that bad. I would say make sure you understand the content when using becker and not the format or the sim questions

@BrookeS is summarized very accurately.Becker's MCQ are excellent. they seems have improved SIMs in 2017 materials.I have not used Becker's SIM for REG and AUD.

Yea. I just took far in march and completely thrown off by the set up of the sim questions. The mc are definitely less wordy though.
